((Alrighty, here's my detailed version of the game descriptions and rules))
Welcome to the GIT Halloween Coffee House! Come on in, have a drink, play some games. "Games," you say. "What games?" Well, here at the Coffee House, we're hosting not one, but two great Halloween themed games.
Costume Contest
'Tis the season for looking like a complete freak and actually having people compliment you on it. So why not take advantage of that by entering our spiffy Costume Contest?
The Rules:1. We will accept the first 10 people to properly enter the contest.
2. This is a costume contest, not a tektek contest. So to enter, you must dress your avi in the costume of your choice, save the image to photobucket or other similar image hosting site, and post it in the thread, along with some indication that it is your official entry, not just something you posted for fun. If you'd like to include a short description of your avi, that's fine, but isn't necessary. (If, for some reason, you are unable to post a pic of your avi, you may ask one of us to take the pic for you.)
3. We will take entries for the contest until the 20th, or all slots are full, which ever happens first.
4. As we receive entries, we will add them to the "Contest Entries" post for everone to see. Once applications are closed, we will create a poll with the contestant's names and the winner will be decided by popular vote.
5. The voting will remain open until the end of the festival and the winner will be notified by PM.
6. One entry per person. This includes mules. If we catch you using a mule to try to enter two avis into the contest, you will be both disqualified and automatically land yourself on the blacklist of both this thread and any future or present GIT sponsored threads.
The Prize:"Yes, yes, that's all nice, but what do I get out of it," you may be wondering. Well, we've got a great, and unique, prize for this contest.
The winner of the Costume Contest will receive avi art of their winning entry. And that's not all. The winner may commission any artist of their choosing on all of Gaia, in any style they want, and GIT will provide the funds.
Now you're thinking, "There's got to be a catch." Well, I suppose you could say that. There are two, small, conditions to the prize. 1) To make sure you dont just take the money and run, one of GIT's members (ananda082001) will actually purchase the commission for you, rather than handing over the gold. 2) GIT will only fund up to 10k for the commission. If you really want art that costs more, then you'll have to provide the balance.
Karaoke Contest
What would a Coffee Shop be without Karaoke? Damn boring, that's what. So, to spice things up, we're giving you a chance to let loose and belt out your love of the holiday. In front of hundreds of stangers. Who have, perhaps, had a
bit too much to drink. Doesn't that sound fun?
The Rules:1. Now, of course, we realize that an actual Karaoke contest online is pretty much impossible. So, what we're talking about here is a poetry contest. That's right. Poetry.
2. The poems must have a Halloween theme. It can be about Halloween on Gaia, Halloween in RL or a combination of both.
3. All styles of poetry are accepted. Haiku, lyric, blank verse, free form, whatever style moves you.
4. All moods of poetry are accepted. Want to make us laugh with your witty observations? Go ahead. Want to frighten us with dark visions? Have at it. Feeling nostalgic? Annoyed? Let it all out, that's what poetry's for.
5. This is a contest based on quality. So, while you're welcome to enter "Roses are red/violets are blue/I love Halloween/How about you?" Don't expect to win with it. The poems dont have to be long, but we do want to see some thought and skill put into them.
6. To enter, simply post your poem in the thread, indicating that it's your official entry. We will add your entry to the "Karaoke Contest Entries" post for everyone to enjoy.
7. Because of the great variety in styles and moods in poetry, we will allow each person to enter two poems each. Again, if we catch you trying to use mules to enter more than the allowed number of entries you will be disqualified and blacklisted from this and all GIT threads.
8. We will take entries until the end of the festival. There is no limit to the number of "slots" we will fill. We'll take as many as are submitted.
9. At the end of the festival, all entries will be judged by a panel of 3-4 GIT members. In order to give the judges adequate time to judge the entries, the winner will be informed, through PM, one week after the end of the festival. If it looks like it will take longer than one week, we will inform all entrants of the delay.
The Prize:"Man, you
really like to talk a lot, don't you? Stop blabbering on and get to the good stuff!"
Again, because of the huge variety in styles and moods of poetry, for this contest we will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize
The 1st place winner of the Karaoke contest can choose between either October's Thank You Letter, or 15k pure.
2nd place will receive 5k
3rd place will recieve 1k
So, those are our contests. I hope you enjoy entering them as much as we'll enjoy seeing the entries!
