http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/sanity.shtml

Upon a search on the internet to be able to better understand sanity, what sanity may be, and how to tell if someone is insane or not, I found this article.
I had little luck finding out what sane is also. Kind of makes you wonder, hm?

The definition for Insane is:

in·sane (n-sn)
adj.
1.
a. Of, exhibiting, or afflicted with insanity.
b. Characteristic of or associated with persons afflicted with insanity: an insane laugh; insane babbling.
c. Intended for use by such persons: an insane asylum.
2. Immoderate; wild: insane jealousy.
3. Very foolish; absurd: took insane risks behind the wheel.

or... Irrational.

What's the definition for Sane, you ask?

sane (sn)
adj. san·er, san·est
1. Of sound mind; mentally healthy: "their protector, the strongest and sanest of them all" Pat Conroy.
2. Having or showing sound judgment; reasonable.

If you question your own sanity, you obviously have some type of troubling thought that makes you question it, however, if you are questioning your thoughts you can't possibly have a sound mind. And reasonable to one person is unreasonable to the next.
This leads me to the final question.

Is everyone in the entire world insane?

Interesting stuffs hm?

And to answer YOUR question, I quote from freedictionary.com a lot because I hate the English language and it feels like I may be using a word improperly. English is effing confusing. stare

Cheshire Cat: If I were looking for a white rabbit, I'd ask the Mad Hatter.
Alice: The Mad Hatter? Oh, no no no...
Cheshire Cat: Or, you could ask the March Hare, in that direction.
Alice: Oh, thank you. I think I'll see him...
Cheshire Cat: Of course, he's mad, too.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
Cheshire Cat: Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here.
[Laughs maniacally; starts to disappear]
Cheshire Cat: You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself.

You know, technically not everyone in the world is insane. You have the be legally declared insane in court by a judge and a jury. In order to do this you have to demonstrate a threat to yourself or to others, and have a means of carrying out that threat.

There is actually a class at my school called Creativity and Madness. What would you say questioning one's own thoughts is, creativity or madness? Do think being critical and aware of your own thoughts is madness? or perhaps just a sign of a creative mind?

Perhaps the world is full fo merely creative people instead...

Well, that is of course Legally insane.
Being insane means you are not completely perfectly sound in logic and rationality, and not everyone, or at least the majority, agrees with your opinions.

You may be right though... I've not met many creative people in my town though. They're all people who say "Praise Jesus!" and haven't read the bible, the types who contradict themselves constantly...

Everyone appears insane to at least one person. Some people believe they are the only sane ones left, even though it may be them who is irrational.

Well to make the shut up,give them an old hat from when they used mercury on the hats to shine them. The will get a wee dose of hysteria and dementia.Very fun to watch.

but then that definition of sanity is hardly a good definition.

insanity: demonstrate a threat to yourself or to others, and have a means of carrying out that threat.

in and of itself that makes any amerikan with a gun at home that is willing to kill a theif trespassing/ a murderer an insane person, because they demonstrate that they will harm others and have a way of carrying it out.

it makes our army insane because they kill terrorrorists. they want to keep amerika safe but in doing so they show they will harm others and have a means of carrying it out.
come to think of it it makes police insane. makes terrorists insane.... makes anyone who gets into a fight (consentualy) insane. hell, it would make almost 90% of amerika insane at one point or another. which means that because the majority of us would eb insane, we would all veiw you, the un-insane, as insane because you show peculiar behavior that others do not.
>.>

which mean insanity made that law, and thus prooves the law insane, adn all who abide by it also insane for following insane laws....
also meaning that because we are forced to follow these 'insane' laws we are forced into insanity.

Going by the first definition of sanity, I can safely say I am 100% not sane. xd

Woohoo! I'm following in the steps of my favourite philosopher (see signature) and favourite fiction author, Poe!

"I do not suffer from insanity but enjoy every minute of it" twisted
