This is the topic for verses of the day.
DO NOT by any circumstances post your own verse here. You may comment on the verses here, but if you want a specific one, PM me about it. That is all. For now.

Today's verse of the day is: Malachi 1:5

Quote:
And your eyes will see this and you will say, "The LORD be magnified beyond the border of Israel!"
-Malachi 1:5

This verse is part of the mission we have. Back in the days of Malachi, Israel, the last ray of light of the true God, was under Persian captivity. They were denying the Lord, becoming sloppy in their offerings to Him. Gentiles were even lesser reached by God. This is want we want. In present, Israel is like the church, which we are a part of. We want to spread the message everywhere.

Today's verse of the day: Proverbs 26:5.
Quote:
Answer a fool as his folly deserves,
Lest he be wise in his own eyes.

This verse is helpful in Discussion, although it can be misunderstood. It simply means not to give the one you are debating an answer that will make him smug. Don't give them too much credence for a bad argument. Other than that, this verse sounds cool. Proverbs are awesome. mrgreen

The following VotD was sent by mc1600. As follows is verse and her little commentary.
Quote:
2 Peter 3:8-9 (NIV)
8But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness.

-- The Bible says "the day of the Lord is near", but it has been over 2000 years since the statement was written. Many people criticize the notion, but if time does not apply to God, then near to him is different from our point of view.

This verse basically says that God is outside of time. He made time for humans, really. It's like He can fast forward and rewind.
Many people who put evolution into the bible use this verse to support the Gap theory. They say that each "day" of creation was actually a very long time. Here is my response: Adam was created on the sixth day and lived through the seventh. In the end he died at 930. Why couldn't God have used regular days? He took a long time at it, I think.

The following few VotDs were also sent in by mc1600. She sent me a lot of these. sweatdrop
Quote:
2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)
16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

2 Peter 1:20-21 (NASV)
20But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

2 Peter 1:20-21 (NIV)
20Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. 21For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

-- The Bible was written by men, but inspired by God -- it is God's Word.

Refer to these verses if you ever doubt the inspiration of God's word. Okay then.

Even more VotD from mc...
Quote:
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

1 Corinthians 2:5 (NIV)
so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.

-- Christianity is based on faith, not proof. The definition of faith is "being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do no see."

Another one from mc1600...
Quote:
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

-- God will not let us be tempted so much that we cannot overcome it in some way.
-- He will also help us through temptation.
-- But if we do not have God's help, then we cannot overcome it.

Sorry for the long delay...another one from that mc...should have put "hammer" instead of "1600"...can't touch this...:
Quote:
Matthew 4:6-8 (NIV)
6"If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written:
" 'He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone."
7Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test."

-- Don't try to test God, including trying to prove his existence.

Yeah, that's about it...

Thanks so much to mc1600, who has given me enough verses of the day that I haven't had to walk all the way to my room 12 feet away and look at my wall of verses.
Quote:
Romans 3:5 (NIV)
5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Ephesians 2:19-22 (NIV)
19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

-- The church is important, and so is "[joining] together". Therefore, it?s important to meet with other believers.

The last mc verses...
Quote:
Ezekiel 3:18-21 (NIV)
18 When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.
20 "Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. 21 But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you will have saved yourself."

-- You are responsible as a Christian to tell someone else if they are sinning, whether they are fellow believers or not.

Yeah, its your responsibility, in school, church, life, to tell someone when they are doing something wrong. As a side note THENK YOU SO MUCH MC1600!

Hey everybody, it's been forever since verses of the day were running...Before guilds were down, before I let anyone who wanted to join...Before God blessed my life like never before...Anyways, to business!

Quote:
Now Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying,
"Oh, that Thou wouldst bless me indeed,
and enlarge my border,
that Thy hand might be with me,
and that thou wouldst keep me form harm, that it may not pain me!"
And God granted him all that he requested.
-1 Chronicles 4:10

If you haven't read the book The Prayer of Jabez, I suggest you do. It's about prayer, for yourself, to live a blessed life. I read the book and prayed this prayer almost everyday, and since then my life has been so blessed, you wouldn't believe it.

Quote:
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!
-Psalm 150:6

The last verse of Psalms. Need I say more? Praise Him indeed!
