sometimes i inadvertently help people. it could be as simple as you go to the bank, someone needs change for a dollar, you dont know them, dont care whether you have the dollar or the quarters, but you dont do it. no reason behind it, you just dont care about their problem and move on with your life.

realy its all about the who involving the healing thing.
situation, i am a great healer for whatever reason, and hitler comes to me saying he has some deadly disease. if i heal him, it would be for the greater good of germany. if i didnt, it would be for the greater good of everyone else who is against germany. now, lets say germany was also on its own against everyone( i know thats not how it went). that would thus conclude that healing hitler would NOT be for the greater good.
the greater good is all about majority rules. its democratic if you will. smile

personally i think your right in most cases but you could do things that you dont want to for no reason. like say you have a self fulfilling dream of prophecy, and in the dream you die at gunpoint for being in a 7-11 at the time of robbery. you are a strong believer in prophecy, and belive you must go there, but have children and a wife who love you. they have no financial support without you, and they will likely die on the streets without your income. because you so strongly believe in prophecy, you go to the store and die, and then your family -contradictory to your wants and self interest- go on the streets and starve to death.
in this case, you go to your unwanted death because you belive you it must be your time to go if you had that dream, and you follow your religion/beliefs over your self interest.
