Two hours and twenty seven minutes.

That was how long it had been since Malice last saw her beloved Sepia, spirited away by one of the countless Chanseys that seemed to infest the Pokemon center like bloated pink cockroaches. She had never liked them much, really. Perhaps it was all the years of seeing their dopey smiles that had left her so bitter. She had never bothered to dwell on it for too long.

Strategically perched in a far corner of the waiting room (beyond the front desk's immediate view), the nineteen year old hadn't moved since her arrival. It was rather... strange, the almost nervous mood she had taken on-- but what could possibly be unnerving in such a benevolent place?

Idly rolling the tail of her braid between thin fingers, she heaved a sigh. The black dye was starting to wear at the tips, she noted; tiny hints of red were almost visible in the rosy sunset glow through the window. Oh well. It was nothing another application couldn't fix.

Come to think of it, that was the least of her problems right now. She should've been conversing with Jenn... shouldn't she? After all, that was what people typically did in one another's company during long waits!

... or the normal ones at least. God only knew if Mal qualified there!

While her fellow trainer was worrying over in the corner, Jen had walked over to the phones to give her mentor a buzz. Holding the phone to her ear via a shoulder, Jen smiled at the screen as Professor Oak's face came into view.
"Yes Professor.....uh-huh, yep! If you could send her over..."
The kindly, grandfather-like figure on the screen smiled at Jen as he placed a pokeball on the transporter. As it disappeared from sight, Professor Oak tilted his head as the female trainer explained what had happened to her partner.
"Hm......I see, Aeon never did very well on the water field in the first place, did he? I think you should take him out for some training then...but first, let him rest."
A vein twitched on Jen's forehead at the cocky accent laced in the Professor's voice; as much as she looked up to the elder sometimes he really knew how to annoy her. About to toss a rebuttel towards him, the flash of light from the transporter cut her off as Aya's pokeball came into view. Plucking it up, she tossed it up and down for a second before saying good-bye and logging off.

Mentors? Ha! What a strange concept that was to someone like Malice. Wouldn't such a thing be burdensome, always having to reference someone else for every little thing instead of simply trying it for oneself? No, that wasn't useful at all; it was just an excuse for being dependant on others!

Stopping the digression before it could go any further, she shifted in her seat again, stealing a glance at Jenn's back. Talking.... Yes, that was the 'proper' course of action now. She had been silent for long enough; but what to talk about? And how to do it without catching any unwanted attention from other listeners?

"... What Pokemon did you request to have sent?" she finally asked, albeit a little quietly... but at least she was trying! "I take it... you've been a proffesional trainer for quite some time?"
