Well I'm cosplaying Lucy for Halloween and taking that same costume to my first convention, along with my Bleach and EGL dress. I recently made me dad sit down and watch up 4 episodes of Elfen Lied. He really likes the series, especially when the Lucy side wakes up. Well he was hoping Lucy would kill Bando and all, but obviously she doesn't. Then my dad is now made of his mind that he's going as Bando with me to the convention. Keep in mind my dad is 51 years old, not that you are ever too old to cosplay, but that means my 5th costume I have to comission besides my own as well and I have to keep him under control. He wants to buy a real gun and I'm like 'Oh heck no! You get a squirt gun....'
I just think this is crazy, but yeah....any opinions?

I have never been to a convention, but I don't think he'd be allowed in with a real gun,eh? Maybe I could go as Banto for Halloween and carry my BB gun with me.But its a bit big so maybe buy a $20,unloaded(as in no CO2 tank or BBs) airsoft hand-gun?(<--Try that for your dad?)

From what I hear, most cons dont let you bring any type of gun :/ Then again anime boston didn't seem to mind it so much .. Dunno. Good luck with your dad though ^^

Lol, that's awesome. A real gun would complete the look, but I agree with the others; I doubt they'd let him him. I think it's pretty cool that he's into the series though. x3

Thats cool that he likes the series. Hopefully he's not one of those dads that are good at making things awkward. Good luck keeping him under control if he is. I hate it when the say stuff that they think will make them look cool but they just make everything awkward.

Take a squirt gun and spray paint it black to look like a real gun. Fill it with water...and prove it's fake. >.<

...How awkward that you watched Elfien Lied with your dad. I might just be a little old fashioned though, I guess.

...I wish my parents were that cool. gonk My mom once caught me watching a scene from Elfen Lied...it was the scene where Mayu gets raped by her step-father. My mother yelled at me, telling me to "never watch that garbage again." -.-" I don't even wanna know what my father will think...

That sounds great! I think that would be a good idea, plus having your dad going as another character is pretty awesome. Especially since he's going as Bando too.
