Well to be quite honest, you probably know what it is but you're not totally sure that it's masturbation.
It's like.. a self stimulation thing. It's a way to pleasure yourself by playing with what you've got down there.
Basically, for men, I'm assuming it's basically they just give themselves handjobs. If you're gay, then I guess you could/might use a d***o up the a**, but idk.
For women, they can play with their clitoris and finger themselves. Or use a vibrator.

MissMurder is right that masturbation is when you stimulate yourself (usually stimulating the genitals to the point of orgasm).
Women usually stimulate the clitoris or v****a. Men usually stimulate the testicles, p***s, or a**s. Sexual preference actually has nothing to do with it. Many straight men enjoy a**l stimulation.
There's no right or wrong way to do it. People enjoy different things.

my religion also says this

Always be careful to make sure people understand that is your opinion, not a fact. Most people believe masturbation is ok, normal, and healthy. So if they have no personal or religious belief that says it is wrong, there is no reason to scare them. 3nodding
