[Cross-posted on the 18+ and 21+ guild forums... I hope there's not a rivalry or anything razz ]
Hi. I'm brand-new to Gaia and to the guild (just joined both last night in fact). Basically, I got tired of meeting 12 (!) year olds and asked on the main forum where I could find people my age... and this is where I landed biggrin
A little bit about myself, I'm from North Carolina, I just turned 26, and I've got about 2 months to kill time / work / volunteer / whatever before I take the NC Bar in February (ugh). I figured this would be the optimal time in my life to screw around online before I'm working 60-80 hours a week mad I'm a night owl so I'm usually on between 10 PM and 2 AM EST.
Anyway, feel free to check out my profile which has a bit more about me and what I've been doing the past quarter-century. Add me if you like and I'll add you back. I'm also on facebook and myspace so if anyone wants to add me on there, just pm or comment me and I'll send you the links.
That's it for now. Feel free to talk to me anything, but fair warning, I'm a motormouth :O See you around.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised that when a thread that said "newb" led to some elegant writing! I know what you mean about the twelve year olds. I feel awkward deliberately censoring what I write or mentioning a cult classic to a generation that just doesn't get it (I'm 24). You'll find that people are nicer here than most of Gaia. Mainly because we have lives to lead and can't exhaust all our time and energy into squabbling online over petty differences.
We discuss fun gaia things like avatars, but we also have grown up talks here as well. Every life stage (ok, save for Under 21 stages) is represented here. There's a lot of fun and a lot of support in this group. People with real life experiences who can share and collaborate!
Welcome aboard. Good luck with your bar, what kind of attorney or law persona are you seeking to be? I know there are so many kinds out there. Finally if you need anything just ask us. We won't get our torches out if you post a thread in the wrong forum, misspell a word, or don't have a "cool" avatar.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Best of luck to your friend on his PA bar results. If he put in as much work as I expect to put in, he should be congratulated whether or not he passes :p At least he can relax for a few months in the meantime.
As for my plans, I'd love to go into environmental law (doing either general conversation work or wildlife preservation), but those jobs are pretty hard to get right out of school. I'll probably end up working at a local firm the next few months just for the experience and to make a few bucks, but I'm not looking forward to being the low man on the totem pole. Gotta start somewhere though. At least that's what I keep telling myself confused
I appreciate the lack of insults toward my profile/avatar/etc. I just tell people I'm going for a "minimalist" look so they don't know I've only been on Gaia for 48 hours wink

Hello there! It's great to meet you! I think you are going to fit in a treat here! We are a very varied bunch, which I like to think means we have something in common with almost everyone!!
Environmental law -what an awesome choice!!

well, my friend just got his results in friday. turns out he didn't pass the exam. we joke because he's full blooded scottish. he cracks out the 'it's because i never could pass a bar' joke. he's hitting the books hard this time around on top of being a part time philosophy professor at gannon university here in erie, pa. 29 years old and he holds a docorate in law. he really wants that esq suffix added to his name, so it would be dr. bryon ***** phd. esq. and he says he'd definately put that on everything xd
