Valentines Part I
Luka was bored, reaaally bored. He had coloured and played his pipes, gotten them confiscated by Shu, tried to find them, failed. He'd even read a couple of books though even they got boring. That was when he had ventured out to the living room to watch the TV. He liked the TV a lot. There was always something fun on.
Today every show seemed to be going on about something called Valentine's day. He was not sure what Valentine was, but it appeared to involve a lot of pink, red and hearts, and chocolate. He frowned a little and floated closer to the TV.
Naomi made her way slowly up the path towards Hideyoshi's house. She was not feeling one hundred percent and it had taken a direct order from Yoshi to get her to leave the office early. Sniffing softly and rubbing her slightly raw nose on her handkerchief, she dug out the keys and unlocked the front door. Stepping inside, she slipped off her heels and had to pause in unbuttoning her suit coat as she went into a bit of a coughing fit. Sniffing again when it finished, she made her way further into the house and smirked as she saw Luka studying the TV so intently.
"Hey," she smiled and walked over to curl up on the sofa behind him. "What are you watching?" she asked, looking to the TV and lifting a brow as she saw only commercials playing.
Luka jumped at the sound of the female voice and turned sharply. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw that it was only Nao.
"Hi Miss Naomi." he floated backt o the sofa to join her. "I'm watching Valentines day." he pointed to the cooking show that was demonstrating how to make heart shaped chocolate cookies. "What -is- Valentines day? Why is there so much chocolate?" Maybe it was like christmas he decided ... which made him a little excited, he had enjoyed getting presents.
Nao smiled as Luka greeted her and gave a light laugh at his words. Coughing a little, she pulled out her handkerchief again and looked over to the television.
"You're not watching Valentine's day," she smiled and turned her eyes back to him. "You're watching a cooking show that's talking about it and the special things you can do for it," she sniffed and dabbed at her nose a little. Thinking for a moment, she tried to decide what was the best way to describe Valentines to the young raeven.
"Valentine's day is... a special day to show your significant other that you care for them. To show them how much you love them," she smiled and looked down at her handkerchief. "You usually buy them a gift. Something romantic and sweet. Probably where all the chocolate comes from," she smiled.
"Ohhh." Luka said, his eyes on the TV and his head nodding as if now it was all incredibly clear. "What's a sig ... significate other?" he asked, looking at her for a moment. "It's a love day?" Well that was a little strange, though he liked the sound of it. Love made people happy and happy people laughed. He liked it when people were happy.
"Are you sad Miss Naomi?" He asked, watching her dab at her nose.
Nao gave a light laugh and started to cough again as she shook her head.
"No," she finally managed, smiling and looking back at him. "I'm not sad. I'm sick," she sniffed and brushed some of her hair out of her eyes. "It is a love day. It's special because sometimes in our busy lives we forget to to tell the person that we love that we love them. Silly, I know, but it's what happens," she smiled and looked over to the cooking show. "And a significant other is, um, like a husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend. Like... I suppose you could say that Cirrus is Shuhei's significant other," she smiled and shrugged a little. "Though, admittedly, it's usually used in slightly more serious terms."
Luka smiled as she said that she wasn't sad and listened intently, he was rather interested about this new holiday that involved love and chocolate.
"oooh." He said nodding his head and folding his arms for a moment. "So they buy each other presents." He nodded and commited all this to memory. No presents for him then.
"I wonder what Shuhei will get Cirrus."
Nao smiled and nodded.
"Yep. Well, a smart man won't forget to buy a present or two," she smirked jokingly. She honestly didn't care one way or the other. Valentine's day was such a farce in her opinion. Just another excuse to spend money on a predictable day. Smirking a little, she tugged a little on the hem of her suit skirt and looked up at him.
"You should ask him. I'm sure as long as you can promise to keep a secret, he'd tell you," she smiled.
"Oh, I can keep a secret!" He declared happily, turning to look at the TV as they showed the finished product. He bet Cirrus would like those very much. Maybe he could make them for her and Shuhei because they were both very kind to him and he loved them. Were they his significate others? He should make some for Yoshi and Naomi too.
"Thank you Naomi." He said with a smile.
Nao smiled at his excitement and shifted to reach out and ruffle his hair gently.
"You are very welcome Luka," she smiled and uncurled her legs so she could stand. "And now I'm off to bed before Dr. Yosh comes home and ends up confining me there for days," she smirked, sniffing a little. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to knock," she smiled and started towards the back of the house.
