It wasn't too exciting of a day at the Kusini lands, well not for Kilelo at least. The young lioness was prowling about, looking for scraps of food that she could munch on. She wasn't too good at hunting, no one had ever taught it, and it was apparent. Her figure was unbelievably bony. Her ribs, shoulder blades, hip bones, all stuck out at unnaturaly skinny angles. She ate what she could find, which usually was nothing.
Sighing, Kilelo stopped, giving up for now and sitting down for a moment to rest. Her ears perked up as she looked around her surrounding area. No one around. As usual. Along with growing accustomed to being hungry, she'd grown accustomed to being alone. It wasn't so bad. Not any more. Perhaps it was even her sour attitude on life that drove others way. But, she was always in the mood for company. Hopefully of the pleasant sort.

Siyo blinked as he slunk through the kusini lands. He looked rather suspecious the way he was moving about on his homelands... but if you knew him you'd also known he'd disappeared from these lands long ago. A run away returned? No, sometimes Siyo just got fed up with Sawa and felt a little home sick. Not for the lions here, just for the beautiful land.
He was skinny, but not in such dire conditions as Kilelo. Sawa and he had become rather good at scavaging as well as stealing from the small villages of two-legs they sometimes came upon. It was dangerous and Siyo much rather prefered scavanging to stealing two-leg food but these things happened. Especially when you felt starving!
All of a sudden the smaller figure out in front of him and he froze. Sometimes this grass was too blasted high! He let out a throat growl, in warning. It was something Sawa had taught him when they'd ran into less... pleasant sorts of animals on the savanna. Like young Hyenas. It didn't always work, but at least the other party knew you meant business!
In any case he was just trying to scare her off, he didn't want his parents finding out he'd come back here. Even for only a short while.

A low growl sounded behind her and Kilelo froze. She pinned her ears down, not exactly in fear, but more in irritation. Kilelo had never actually been in a sticky situation, so nothing really scared her, especially not in her home lands. Slowly, she turned her head, bi-colored eyes narrowed to little slits. What kind of shenannigans were these? Someone threatening her right at home!
Before her stood a red lion, older than her, but obviously not by much, judging by his lack of mane. She didn't know him, but then again, she didn't know anyone here. With her mother's death, Kilelo had mostly seperated herself from the pride. Stereotypical little orphan. She usually ran by her own rules.
"Excuuuuse me." Her tone was harsh and offended, "But, what have I ever done to you?"

He was quite taken aback by her lack of fear or even nervousness. Dammit, he was going to get Sawa for this one! Probably he wasn't scary looking enough... he smirked at the thought because it meant Sawa was scary looking.
When he looked at her again he made a face. "Yeh 'adn't done anything, I was hoping yed go away though." Well, wasn't he pleasant?

The guant lioness was taken aback. She frowned, her sunken face wrinkling. What did that even mean? Honestly, how rude! She lived here, he couldn't tell her to go away!
"What? What do you mean? I have every right to be here. I was here first, besides."
Kilelo huffed, sticking her nose in the air. She didn't appreciate this stranger. Not one bit. However, it didn't stop her curiosity.
"What's your name, anyways?"

He blinked and gave her a cocky grin. "Act'shly I was 'ere first seeing as I be older." Witty, wasn't he? What a feisty little girl... she was just lucky Sawa was not with him. Siyo was sure his friend was not beneath hitting on juveniles. At least she hadn't gotten to her demon stage yet. Stupid adult females. Vicious little...
His name? "Siyo." He said with out thinking much. That could link him back here, couldn't it? No. No. No one knew no. Because his names was No. And no one knew No. He grinned at his thoughts but didn't share them for obvious reasons. "If yer no' goin' then I guess yeh should give yer name as 'ell..." He raised his brows as if asking well what is it.

"You don't even live here. I've never seen you around before, how could you have been here first? Huh?"
Kilelo tilted her chin up in confidence as she tried to make her point. Of course it was possible that he lived her and she'd never seen him, as she barely saw anyone for the most part. But perhaps, he wouldn't call her on her bluff. Either way, she'd have a rebuttal ready.
"What're you so smirky about?"
Kilelo jerked her head back as she looked around them. Was there something comical that she was missing? Or perhaps he was smirking at her. But what'd she do now? With a shake of her head, she looked back to him with her odd colored stare, her voice slightly subdued,
"It's Kilelo."

He couldn't give away he had been here first with out unmasking the fact that he had been born in these lands. Of course maybe she'd assume he was always in them? Maybe she did not often go around to see lions and lionesses. He himself had stuck near to his sister and father...
"Eh ne'er yew mind, I was 'ere first an' tha' is tha'." He grunted, sounding grumpy. He did not like being wrong, especially since he was always wrong when he was a cub. Especially if he was right.
"An' I do no' be smirkin' aboot an'thin so mind yer business." Maybe he could be rude enough to make her leave?
His eyes landed on her ribs for a moment and he frowned. "Doesn' yer mother 'unt?" He said, disgust not masked on his voice. A youngling should never look like that. He shook his head lightly. "Do yeh no' know the 'untresses in these lands?" He frowned more. That was where he always got his food, Syeira or Tisha sometimes. Though he tended to avoid his Great-Aunt Syeira because her mate was red and... well he hated red. Regardless if he was red and his best friend was partly red!

The cogs were churning in his head, Kilelo could tell, but about what, she hadn't a clue. Perhaps thinking about more rude things to say. Her nose wrinkled in offense. However, his efforts to thwart her seemed to be having just the opposite affect. Instead wanting to get away from his rude attitude, she'd rather stay and defend herself. Growing up alone had drilled that into her mind. She needed to stand up for herself. No one else would. She didn't have anyone to.
"Well obviously you are smirking about something, whether it's my business or not, no use lying."
Kilelo caught his eyes move to her skeletal frame. She shrunk back slightly, not at all appreciating the look or the tone of his voice. Her strong gaze wavered, dropping from Siyo down to the ground; he'd struck a cord. A deep one. If only he knew what had really happened to her, how her life had strayed from birth to... to this. Her eyes snapped back to him, an intensity and sorrow contained in her gaze,
"My mother is dead. Killed by... by him. I don't want help from the huntresses. I don't want help from anyone."
It was obvious she was pained by this strain of thought. She was independant, she lived on her own with no help from anyone and this was where it got her. She wasn't complaning, and she tried to not let it get to her, but at time, with comments like Siyo's, she just couldn't help it.

He took a step back and his lip curled and rolled his eyes. "No use askin' fer o'er peoples thoughts now is there? They be tellin' yeh things when they wan' eh?" His eyes narrowed slightly.
He took another step back when she mentioned her mother was dead and had to try really hard not to mutter 'good'. He wished his mother was dead, she was lucky and didn't even realize it. "Yeh good luck with tha' then.." He sneered, looking a little pissed. She was going to be stupid and not get help from people... that equaled dead. Plus he was upset with himself because he had been about to offer to take her on a trip to the two-leg village about a days walk from here. What the hell was he thinking?
"Jus' gunna end up dead if yeh do no' take o'ers 'elp... which wha's the point to that?" But really Siyo couldn't even tell you the point to living. He was a miserable adolescent with a crumby attitude, why would anyone want to take his advice?

Things had turned ugly rather quick, but Kilelo wasn't about back down. Seemingly, each was in a position the other rather envied. Kilelo would love to have a mother, someone to actually care about her, take care of her. Sure she had her siblings. Where they were right now, she had no clue. But that wasn't the way things were, and they weren't going to change.
"It's suited me just fine. Besides, you can't rely on others to cater to you your whole life. It'll make you weak. Spineless."
She couldn't help but to scoff at what he said. Kilelo shook her head, a smirk now spreading on her guant face. Sure, she wasn't attractive, she knew that. In fact, most found her repulsive. And she wasn't surprised. She was a walking, talking skeleton. But a skeleton with the will to go on and the sass to fight back.
"Dead? I don't think so. I've lived like this my whole life so far. And here I am, talking to you, very much alive. I can make it on my own."

Weak? Spineless? His eyes narrowed and he took a step back. Actually weak and spineless suited him just fine... and he did live life relying on others. At least on his chum Sawa, that was it. But now she was offending the way of life he'd known so long!
"Bu' yeh can no' jus' throw e'ery one else away!" He insisted. Perhaps there was some compromise going on inside his mind?
"Yeh well maybe I'd be better off if yeh were dead!" He snarled at her, though he didn't know why he was being so mean. Normally he was just grouchy. He turned to go on his way though finally.

Siyo was so quick to judge, so quick to degrade her on her way of life, but as soon as she said something about his, he got all tense and offended. Opted to leave. Kilelo didn't exactly want to stop him, but she couldn't keep her mouth shut.
"Those like you are why I live alone! What would you rather, for others to wish your death, or for them to not notice you at all? ...I'd rather live in seclusion than be so hated."
It wasn't that she cast off anyone that tried to be around. It was just that no one had ever tried. She wasn't going to make an effort if no one else was. Kilelo was definitely not the type to run around pleading for the help of others, but if it was offered, she wasn't exactly about to turn it down. No one ever offered. She didn't like to be pitied, either, and that was usually just what she got.

"Wha'e'er. I do think it be actually be'er teh be 'ated than teh be a phantom." He called over his shoulder, slipping into the grasses. Honestly, who would want to exist only for themselves? He frowned in thought. It was even better to exist for someone that hated you... wasn't it? At least then you'd have someone to interact with. He snorted and huffed, getting a headache from the thoughts.
