(An avatar I designed on Lynn's account and now the story that goes with it. I might do more if I get inspired.)
Soira had always upheld the tenets of her faith and the trace of heaven in her blood. She had protected the innocent, fought monsters, and above all, preserved freedom. However she still spent a week disobeying those tenets.
He had been a man she met in her travels. Eyes of midnight and long raven hair. She could remember the touch of his alabaster skin and the brush of his lips. He wasn't evil but there was darkness in his blood and it gave him power to curse and destroy. A number of things in her blood cried out to slay him because of the danger he posed. However, her heart held other designs.
Despite it all, she chose to travel with him, laugh with him, fight alongside him, and finally love him in body and soul. It couldn't be and she knew it. She spoke of her dilemma with him for honesty was another facet of the good and freedom she upheld.
Soira couldn't be with him... He protested, holding her close and promising anything, conversion, finding a way to purge himself of his dark blooded powers, Anything, just to be with her.
She still had her honor and duty to attend and with his words, she knew something else. Soira, the great and powerful liberator, now knew what love was and what it meant. They had shared many a night and bed in that week but they could never share a life.
"I love you so much, my dearest dark one, but I must stay true to myself. If you traveled with me still, I could not heed my calling. I must stay true to my path and you to yours. As a harbinger of Freedom, I cannot bear the thought of shackling you with my love."
Crystal tears fell on her cheeks as he held her face, stricken by her words but knowing the truth. Love should not be a prison and that is what their life together would be, for both of them.
They shared but one more night and she was gone with the breaking of dawn. It was far down the road that she could not hold back her tears and blew a kiss onto the wind, knowing it would always find his face.
