I know that Edward is a romantic idiot and whatnot, but during the proposal scene (Chapter 20) I noticed that he says
"Isabella Swan will you marry me?" This struck me as odd, because I would imagine that Edward, in a fit of gallantry, would have used, well...her full name.
"Isabella Marie Swan, will you marry me?" Now, tell me, doesn't that sound so much better? Maybe it's just me..but.
Oh, and i think it might have been nice if Stephenie could have incorporated Edwards full name; Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, I really like his name heart

That is weird, now that you mention it. Usually people do. Sure, it is a little cliche, but it's Edward. He's a cliche in itself.

why does it matter. IT's still a proposal and he says her name. Most people don't like their middle names so I don't see the problem here.

It's just how people like the proposal to go. It just sounds nicer to a lot of us if a person says the middle name too. It's more proper that way.

I totally love Edward Anthony Mason Cullen's full name, and it does seem very strange that he didn't use Bella's middle name, especially since he's so proper and old fashioned *giggle* but that's okay because Stephenie probably had a lot on her mind when she was writing it (like the other three books that she's working on...)

I think he wanted to say it before she had time to refuse. Or maybe he just ddn't think of saying it. He's never had any experience before Bella, the poor boy.
