My first one: I Can Ok, so it's a british website, but if it weren't for this charity I would be stuck in mainstream school. When I was 8, I was doing alright in school. I was in a language unit out in the next town. I have a mild speech problem and my parents thought it would be a good idea for me to move schools. The reason for this wasn't because of my school work but because I had no proper friends.

So I went on an assement to Meath School (A school that specialises in speech and communition difficulties). It was quite far away so that meant I would go in a taxi every day. On my first visit, I didn't like but when I got a place there, I enjoyed it! There was other kids who go to it so I wasn't alone and I made friends. Katiefox also went to the same school as me but I didn't really talk to her as she was friends with someone else. And there was a speech and language therapist in every class.

We also had a swimming pool and it's also residential. It does do phyiso but they don't really specialise in it but they hired a phyisotherapist for people like me. I had a muesle problem and I couldn't sit on a chair properly because of it. I enjoyed every moment of Meath School and my family go to the school fete every year. We love I Can and I'm sure you will too!

Edit: It's I CAN.

Here's another 3:

National Autistic Sociaty UK The Uk version of the Autistic website

Nass A very good website listing all the UK Schools who are members. They are non-maitanance schools who don't get any help from the goverment. All the schools my sister and I have been to are there as well! Well worth a look.

isbi Another website, like Nass but it lists international special schools. My old school, St Dominic's has a page and they've updated it to included their new website. Quite a good website.

Just woundering. Can we put up any school websites as well? I know quite a few.

oaasisOh brilliant! Listen I just stubbled across another one. I was looking for post 19 college placements because when my one only goes up to 19. I haven't looked at it yet but it gives you info and advice on special needs

And here's a school web address: St. Dominic's School

This is the school that starred in 'After Thomas'. Establised in 1929, it is one of the oldest schools in the county. The trustees are Sisters of the sacred heart of Jesus and Mary so it's run by sisters. I've been at the school for 4 years and it is a truly special schoool. It has a lot of boys and only a few girls. It caters for children with moderate problems like speech and behaviour.

If you go to the residential bit I think they have made a mistake. There are 4 residental areas for the boys and 1 for the girls. The girls r.a is called Bernadettes. They have changed the houses around because originally the girls were in the cottage but we moved to a different r.a because of the growing number of girls. There must be fewer girls now and they must have rearranged the houses to their original positions.

All the residential houses are named after saints except Seniors. I remember that before the b.r.a zone (Bernadettes Resdential Area!) was called 'Girls Unit' but we changed it because it sounds silly, doen't it? But anyway, I'm 100% sure that they haven't changed the r.a names. As well as boarding they have day pupils as well.

The school has changed quite a lot because they have had some new staff come in. One thing that will never change however is the presentation evenings. We have award cerimonies which are just brilliant. I've won 5 awards. St Bernadettes Award for being excellent on my house, KS3 Endeviore Award for trying my best, same award the year after, KS4 Endeviore Award (A huge shield!) and the cookery plate for being a good cook. I got the first 2 when I was in Yr9, 1 from Yr10 and the last 2 from Yr11. These were the best memories of St. Doms! The KS4 Awards were donated from past pupils. And then there's the St. Dominic Savio Award. The Godfather of school awards. This is awarded to the pupil whos done so well at school. And the teachers vote for who will win it.

It is a roman catholic school but don't let that put you off. They welcome everyone no matter what their belief. I've got loads of memories of this school but that's it for now.

Another one before I go:Moor House School

A school for children with speech and language problems. Been there for an assessment but never got a place. Boarding only.

I'm off. I know more schools and colleges but I'll post them later. laters!

UPDATE: St Dominic's School is in Guildford, Surrey and Moor House is in Hurst Green, Surrey I think.

St. Mary's Wrestwood Children's Trust 'A Very Special Place' This is the school/college I currently go to. A really special school, St Mary's is situated in Bexhill-on-sea in East Sussex, England. Founded in 1922, it has won praise from its students and parents. It does boarding, has facilities for the disabled and much more. The college is good too and they are going to do some expansion work very soon. I can't really explain everything so I suggest you check out the website and see it for yourself. You shan't be disappointed I promise.
