I unfortunately don't remember the exact quote or even the exact episode, but in some fourth season episode of Monk, Natalie says something about Monk that mirrors what Sarah Jane (I think) said about the Doctor, which was (paraphrased): "He drags you along behind him and then leaves you out when it all gets good." I'm sure I'm way off with the exact quote - I wish I had any hope of finding where it was again. @_@
Anyway, I thought it was an interesting parallel because the character of Monk is in a lot of ways just like the Doctor. : D So. Any other interesting parallels in other TV shows or books or whatever? :B
Also, I'm sorry again for my continued absence. It's college - classes take up so much time, and studying even more, and I DO have a life, soooo. @_@ I've gotten several submissions for the cosplay contest which I WILL be updating soon, along with the other contests. Thanks for your patience!

Monk? In Simon R. Green's Deathstalker series, there is a race of 'augmented' humans known as the Hadenmen who, to me, seem very similar to Cybermen in most aspects. Just going to find a quote.
Quotes: '...the augmented men had no attributes that were not strictly logical and functional.' "...transformation or death: become a Hadenman or become extinct." (Deathstalker Rebellion) They were even woken from the Tomb of the Hadenmen, although admittedly there were no Hadenmats around. XD
It's a great series though.

Monk is a fairly long-running (American) show about a detective who is extremely OCD. I recently started watching it. It's quite hilarious. :B

I can see Shan making the reference. Likely in poking fun of the cop guy.
Similarities? Hmmmm. Shall I begin the list of things Star Trek stole from the show. Lets see.
Cybermen/Dalek: Borg (If the Cybermen and the Daleks have a love child with a vampire that only drinks through blood transfusion.) Key of time: Orb of Time Omega in a warm hole: Warm hole aliens that have no concept of linear time. In fact they think it's made up. Ship that's bigger on the inside: Ship that's bigger on the inside. (Enterprise) That also happens to travel in time: Heyyyy, this ship can travel in time too.
I really need to go to bed. My brain is getting fried by the second. Would you like a burger? I'm sure I can come out with one any second now. *snorts*

I didn't see the Monk episode. My mother used to watch it, though.
I'm not sure if this is the quote, but in "The Five Doctors", Sarah Jane is there with the Brigadier and Tegan Jovanka while the Doctors are reading this thing in Old High Gallifreyan (?). She says, "Ooh, I know, I know - drag you through time and space without so much as a 'by your leave', then leave you out when things get interesting."
