Alright. So,

Ps2 Version of FFXI came out. I got it.

Phoenix Server.

Got my White Mage up to level 69, and my Black mage up to level 63.

Junior year of Highschool started.

I decided to quit, and deleted my characters.

Big mistake, I will honestly admit that.

First half of junior year was over, Decided I wanted to come back.

Couldn't reinstate my character. Made me really happy.

Decided to re-make a character.

Got a Taru Black Mage up to 25. Hume Red Mage up to 18.

Had to quit again because I got three jobs over the summer. And that was my first priority.

ToAU came out.

I came back with those characters.

But, no one wanted to invite a Black Mage. And I was told they were obselete.

My favorite job went down the toilet.

Quit again out of frustration. Characters are still intact.

Just got word that a new job is coming to FFXI, my favorite out of all the FF's.

Dancer.

Friend on Alexander wants me to come and play with him.

I don't know what to do.

Any advice? Please?

Would be lovely. I'm so confused.

eek Black Mage became obsolete eek , well i did look through the black mage forums from allakhazam and found out black mage seems to be used less and less >.>. It is sad really, because black mage was my first and favorite job(ok bst is a nice job too but not my first >.> and he didn't have anything close to Vivi :p ).

So far through quick scanning I have seen black mage soloable area's O.o, you can always try Manaburn parties also if you can get enough black mage to party.

You could also try to party with other soloable jobs? After reading I have seen that besides BST being a solo character it is possible to solo with BLM, BLU, and PUP. Looking for any of the 4 to party with you is a great advantage as it nets you more exp. I know by the fact because duoing as a bst and also for the fact that manaburning are out of the line compared to regular parties but it is possible and a speedier way then to actually solo. RDM is a possible solo character but meh I bet they woul;d rather be in a party then solo since they aren't forced to solo often.

Your alternative will be to level somewhere along the lines of white mage if dancer is in fact similar to a bard or a red mage, then again for some reason i think dancer has those casting spells like frog, small, and such >.< so not sure how that works.

All I can say is try not to give up hope >.<, guhhh too bad blm isn't used a whole lot.... makes me want to cry now that blm is so called *obsolete*.

Lol you can even make a bst/blm/pup/blu linkshell if you want O.O I mean like i said you can all come together to level because having another person to help you=faster leveling. Much like the all bst linkshell that pops here and there.

But seriously I DO feel like crying now that black mage has become obsolete crying I wanted to go back to it as soon as possible but not like this anymore.

Anyways the best thing is to have fun with your experience, I mean it'll be nice to be with your friend in Alexander ^^, unless you also have a lot of them on your current server >.<.

I think if you enjoy playing the game then you might as well return.
Even if you'd quit again, at least you'd have had fun with a friend, right?

I hope BLM will get more party invites soon, even though I am trying to avoid the job as much as possible (I die less as level 10 blm than I do with my level 2 bst currently, but unlike BLM deaths the BSt ones are fully amusing and not frustrating :,D) though I will need it to carry on WHM, which I'll need to carry on BRD (It's my personal spiral of doom) [[On that note.... anyone know good 10-18 BLM solo strategies? XD]]

But yea anyway, there's always the chance of finding an LS where there are at least people in your leveling range that you could probably static with, even as BLM, right?

For BLM 10-15 I solo'd on the worms in Konschtat Highlands. The area on the map, far over to the left. The little inlet like.

Gets repetetive, but using the exp ring works great.

I just love BLM. I love being a BLM and having the scythe. So when I was bored in parties, and everyone approved, I raise my skill. mad d

As long as I did my job, ofcourse.

Yea if you love the job a lot you should stick with it ^^, now that i think about it I could have played BLM soloed too but never notice BLM can actually solo razz .

It does kind of get repetitive sometimes trust me I know the feeling because I played bst for 55 levels rofl but there SHOULD(capitalized because i am not sure about blm soloing) be a lot of alternative areas that you can level in because I have found so many alternative area's to level in with my bst also that I found particular to my interest compared to what others say^^ and since you don't need to be dragged around with parties wherever they want to level.. you get to choose your leveling spot ^^..
I found yet another repetitive way to level though assuming your into fighting pets a lot >.< just look for a bst type mob and fight his pet... but make sure the pets master isn't facing you :p.

I have never tried blm/bst, but if my character is still in tact I might try it >.> I really want to start my blm up again... and since partying seems like a hard option /whm won't cut it much except for the curing spells :p.

if your interested in soloing BLM still these are the mob pets that you can solo against(and you can even gain chain 5 in them O.O), from what I have read also it is possible to 1 hit ko most pets ^^ even an IT might not be too hard considering some of them only have 2k hp. (I am sorry crying just want you to stay as a blm as long as possible ^^)

Job popularity goes up and down all the time. Its just part of the game. Usually SE comes along, changes something to help out the less popular jobs... and then accidentally screws over the whole system. They're trying to balance it out... but its complicated heh heh.

In any case - I wouldn't give up on blm just yet. If you're having trouble getting invites or whatever, just try out some other jobs for a while until SE makes new adjustments and screws over someone else >:3

If you're looking forward to the arrival of dancer, why don't you work on getting all your necessary subs up to 37 (war, blm, whm, nin, smn etc..) ready for its release.

You can change server if you want. It really depends on whether you have anything to keep you at your old server (if you are devoted to your current ls or whatever). If you don't have any ties, then sure...go ahead, why not? You can change back after 90 days razz
