So, hey. I'm moving out of my parent's house next Saturday/Sunday into a flat (read, apartment) with two of my friends. I'll be moving into the city of Glasgow and I've decided, in true magickally-obsessed fashion, to perform a couple of magickal acts to "cement" myself into the house, and into the city. First off, I want to do some variety of warding for my room (and just my room), to keep out bad s**t unless I call it in. I've looked at the Triangular Veins ward, and I want to do something akin to that - some sort of ritual that says "Don't come in here til I tell you, cause this is my place". Any ideas, from smearing my blood on the walls to spreading salt on the doorway, would be appreciated. Second up -- I want to do some sort of thing that really "cements" me into the city. I like the idea of urban magick, and I'm just a little obsessed with the idea of the subway, and Glasgow has an awesome wee subway right in the core of it. I'm considering taking a ride right around the subway while meditating, and going to the very heart of Glasgow and proclaiming my will of... Something. Becoming its resident One True King, I suppose. Any ideas there? What should I do? Sketch sigils onto the walls of the apartment buildings? Spill yet more of my blood and annunciate to the pavement that it is under my holy jurisdiction? I'll be editing this post to add information as soon as I get it. I also want answers, if you're willing to provide them, to the questions I'm posing. Could a magickian in tune with his city be able to find other magickians within it? Could there be/is there/is it possible to make egregores for city districts, for example the Angel Islington from Neverwhere?
tl;dr version: -- Give me information on warding. -- Give me information on city magick. -- Answer the questions I posted in the list above._________________________________________________________________________________ Stuff I've uncovered: Wards101 from RealMagick.com Putting a strip of tape all the way around the room and turning it a bit to make a Moebius strip. You can't be inside a moebius strip, hence, you (theoretically) can't be found magickally. The True King must have a Realm they can protect and for which they take responsibility... The King may never act against his Realm, cannot deny one of his Followers aid if they request it, and cannot stand idly by while his Realm is being harmed. The symbols of the True King are the sword, the crown, and the scepter. Masks and avatars - King Arthur, Solomon, Gilgamesh, Emperor Norton. The King must know if his Realm is under attack; the Realm strengthens and protects the King. (UA sourcebook) Selenite as ward -- Ties to Selene/Moon/Monday? Bits of yourself in exchange for bits of the city - personal artefacts buried at major points in the city. Weaving one's energies into the wall. Sigil stickers for the subway. Hypercubes/hyperspheres.

just a thought, but ive heard of people asking their guardian demons to guard a place if they agree with the idea. obviously they have lives too and wont be able to do it 24-7 but they might be able to point out something realy good that will work.

You won't have eyes tonight. You won't have ears or a tongue; you will wander the underworld blind, deaf and dumb... Glasgow, eh? That's where Craig Ferguson's from! ...and all the dead will know: this is Hector, fool who thought he killed Achilles.

For warding I would say...
maybe banishing pentagrams on each wall, corresponding element and direction as best as possible? Potentially writing holy names upon the walls in chalk.
On the ceiling I'd then place a hexagram/Star of David, each point getting either a piece of a prayer/incantation, or a holy name (not used with the pentagrams).
Then maybe perform the LBRP, only tracing the actual pentagrams... imagination no longer needed.
Standard process of visualizing the appropriate angel in its quadrant, with appropriate elemental weapon. Stars blazing, angels guarding, I think it could work.
OR you could make some holy water (easy instructions found on internets). Sprinkle it around the room... let it sit w/ lid on in the sun (avoid evaporation... clear glass covering would be best), make sure it is covered in a cloth when the moon is out. If I remember right, it is supposed to be more towards "solar" so "lunar" influence may be bad for the supply.
City stuff: I'm big on being discrete with this sort of thing. You should be able to do your stuff in public without drawing attention. This will of course require your creativity to be working overtime.
"True King":
I'd lay out a map of the city. Mark the farthest parts of the city (north, south, east, and west) and maybe bi-monthly perform a banishing on the city itself. Drive/ride to the four corners, and complete the Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram (BRH). Kick unpleasant crap out the door, and tell them they're not welcome on your turf.
I'd go to the center of the city, and perform some self-designed ascension rite/ritual. Declare yourself the one in charge. If challengers appear, then do your best. If no one shows up, then either there is no true king, or they lost their title one way or another.

Hrm... that gives me an idea. I could make some variety of guardian servitor thingy for my room, tie it to the door (or maybe take out the doorhandle, perform some ritual with it, then shove it back in), and use that. If I ever get round to redecorating my room, I'll be sure to do that under the wallpaper. I'm totally gay for all of your ideas for the city magick section. Sex for you. <3
