Picture this scenario:
You're lining up for your favourite competition, which also happens to be the first competition your band reentered competition. You are absolutely pumped to be playing, and you just know you're going to have a great show, and get a great placing.

But something goes wrong. First off, your band is to perform fourth, out of eight bands, meaning the prediction is fifth place for you. Your band director has jinxed you by saying the band's best hope is fifth place, in a poor attempt at firing you up.

What happens? You place fifth.

Basically, that is what happened tonight, at Marion, my favourite competition. The last time I will ever march there with South Tama.

This makes me worry for state. We need to get our butts in gear. If we are going to get a division I at state, we need to work hard, and I need to be a better section leader, unfortunately meaning I might have to get a bit tougher. But until crunch time, I think pep is what we need.

Has this ever happened to you? You've gotten a low rating, placing, something you thought you didn't deserve? I think it happens to my band more often than it should.

Discuss.
