Charming broke the kiss soon, speaking in a soft voice as to reassure Merethist, "That's wonderful news, Merethist." And on a sudden sarcastic note, "Just wait until Mother hears." Oh yes, Merethist might just be close to attacked when Charming's mother found out of the news. He smiled in a slightly rueful manner at the thought. Charming was going to be a father. So, it hadn't completely sunken in just yet, but the prince was smart enough to know that he could never treat this as a bad thing. Especially not with Merethist around. And besides, why would he ever want to treat it as a bad thing?

"...yes, yes it is" Merethist replied with a bright smile, having spent a few moments in silent unease. He gripped Charming's hand gently, leaning forward to kiss Charming on the lips again. He pulled back at the mention of Charming's mother, giving him a pout. "she won't hurt me will she?" he asked, snuggling closer to Charming, looking a little dishevelled. At the moment, he was more in love with Charming then he thought possible, he was so very happy. He was going to be a mother and have a family!! He felt so lucky!

Charming nodded, smiling back at Merethist, who's smile really did seem rather infectuous at the moment. "Hopefully not." He replied as to Merethist's inquiry about his mother. He himself was bursting with love for Merethist at the moment. The situation had gotten to him a little more than it had a few minutes ago and he now felt a sort of concealed pride about Merethist's pregnancy. Yes. He loved Merethist and now Merethist was going to have his child. How perfect was that?

~about 3 months later~
Merethist strolled through the gardens, wearing a loose, floaty dress in order to make him more comfortable and to help cover his growing bump. He was around 20 weeks pregnant by now and enjoying it thoroughly. He had asked Charming's mother to accompany him to the gardens just so he could get air without being tailed by some knights or something, Charming was getting just a wee bit over-protective. "isn't it nice out here??" he asked, stopping beneath a willow tree to smile at Charming's mother.

Charming's mother, of course, had been completely thrilled when she'd found out that her soon to be son-in-law was pregnant. She was going to be a grandmother! And here she was, accompanying him in the gardens, most likely because her son was becoming rather over-protective when it came to his fiance. To Merethist's casual question she replied, "Yes, it's lovely weather."

Merethist smiled, a hand shoting to rest over his swelling abdomen when he felt a painful twinge. He winced when another one came, panicking when something felt odd, very odd. His stomach felt spongey and he felt very sick and empty. He felt something warm trickling and whimpered at the blood stains that were beginning to form on his dress. He curled in on himself, his arms wrapping around his stomach as he winced in pain, no, the baby was fine!! nothing was wrong!! "h-help..the baby!!" he wailed, panicking, tears sliding down his cheeks.

Charming's mother saw the blood as it came, a scream immediately coming from her. There were no doubt knights coming running. She screamed for a healer. Someone went for one. The woman knew this all quite well. There was no hope for the child, she knew. A miscarriage. No, the only one who needed to be saved from anything now, was Merethist, whether that saving was from loss of blood, or depression, the woman wouldn't know until after the fact. And Charming was gone. Charming had gone off riding about on a horse or something earlier in the morning. There was no Charming here to help, but at least the healer had arrived.

~few hours later~
Merethist felt so numb, like he could feel nothing. The world was dull and bleak in his vision, happiness seemed centuries away. What was he going to do?? He'd lost the baby, he felt like he couldn't handle any of this anymore, it was just too hopeless. He curled up in his bed in the room he had occupied before shifting into Charming's room, just staring at the frills and lace and other things...even some baby things were stored in here. He whimpered, pressing his face into the white pillow, sobbing his heart out. He felt sore and numb, the baby was gone and buried. Why wasn't Charming here?? Merethist shook his head, his sobs quelling as he thought. No, Charming couldn't know the baby was gone, he'd never forgive Merethist for losing it. He resolved not to say anything, maybe something would happen to save him??

Prince Charming returned to the castle to find the whole place with what could have been a dark veil over it. Everything seemed bleak for some reason. He was slightly surprised not to find Merethist in their room and quickly pulled a servant aside to ask as to where his fiance had gone to. His brows furrowed rather blankly when he was informed that Merethist was currently in the room he had resided in before moving to Charming's. The prince found his way to the room quickly, opening the door without knocking to see Merethist, face-down on the bed, pressing his face into a pillow. Charming quickly made his way to his fiance's bedside, "Mere?" He spoke softly, his thoughts not touching anywhere near the truth of the matter. "Is something wrong?" He questioned, placing a hand lightly on Merethist's shoulder.
