In the past few weeks, my friends have been dropping like flies while the attaining of new friends has wavered off to nowhere. I recently posted here about a certain multi-75 ex-friend who left me out of conceit and her apparent hatred for others. Now, today, I just lost another friend due to my apparent emonity (is that even a word?). She had sent me a /tell stating that she had just gotten to Kirin with her new LS. Now, she has gotten Kirin many, many times before, has been for the past two years. I, on the other hand, have never seen Kirin even though I've been playing for a little over five years now. Is it, therefore, fair to send me a /tell stating that you're fighting Kirin when this is what you normally do? The fact that it is a new LS does not change the fact that your group is in face a pro-elitist group which contains a good ratio of members who know how to get to Kirin and therefore would be no large surprise that you can reach/fight him. It is as if I, being a Rdm75, had sent a random /tell to a level 15 Smn who has never seen Ifrit stating that I was soloing Ifrit. I don't do that, I see it as unfair to those who have not reached that pinnacle in their careers. I'm 75 in two jobs and yet have not stepped foot onto Sky or set eyes upon Kirin. Why must I be the target for random showoff /tells? She told me I should be proud for her, but how? It is obvious that your group can attain such glory, and easily. If you were 60 and fought and won against Kirin, then yes, that would be something different, a said "challenge" for your group. She then said why must I always be so emo and that I should be proud of her. I evaluated the question and found that no matter what, I can't be proud of something that does not deserve it when the basis of challenge is eliminated through overkill. When she hit Smn75 she sent me a /tell, to which I did congratulate her since hitting 75 on any job is basis for congratulations.
Is it, therefore fair to be unfair when the basis of any challenge is eliminated? Can you congratulate someone who got powerleveled to 20? Can you congratulate a group of BLM's for overnuking the Ark Angels? Can you congratulate an elitist Sky group for arriving at Kirin again? Or should you save your congratulations for those rare levels that one got on their own through hardship? Or that skill level in a particular craft that they've been spending loads of gil on? What are congratulations truly for?

sorry for "sticking my nose in" - but here is my 2cents - take it or leave it^^
well - maybe her new ls did have some new members who were not familiar with sky gods and they might have taken some time working to get all their seals >:3 If the linkshell is brand new there are considerable challenges to be met before you get the chance to fight kirin - not least of which is getting enough members to show up razz obviously for some reason this particular fight was something she was proud of obtaining. of course she could just have been showing off... but if she is your friend that is unlikely isn't it? If you felt a bit miffed at her /tell you could have replied "what? but you're ALWAYS fighting kirin" or something to that effect - rather than accusing her of showing off :/
I understand what you're saying, basically she is making you feel jealous razz ~ but if something is a big deal to you, you want it to be recognised by others ._." and people aren't always very sensitive about these things when they are excited by their own success.
Once I was struggling to complete ZM8 - I had wiped with 2 different parties and I was getting pretty annoyed about the whole thing. Then one day someone I considered my best friend in game said in the LS "Oh Yawa... ZM8 was the easiest mission ever!" Firstly I was slightly put out that he had decided to go ahead of me, without asking me to join him since he knew I needed that mission. Secondly he was rubbing my nose in it that he has won first time with ease D: If he still my best friend? - Yes of course he is razz I wouldn't fall out over something like that razz I don't think you should either^^

Kind of kind of meant they were luckier then me? Same with drops items I wanted ended up being taken by others. I forgot the NM eft name but with my bst I was able to get a friend to help me kill it, with her help we split the profit half half, and yes I was quite happy with my achievement that I finally got 300k O.o I used that 300k to level my cooking to 70. Not really good to brag but I often told people how high my cooking was because, well I was happy because it was a new feet. Most likely it was a little unintentional because well.... like I said I was overwhelmed by the achievement.... Also when my party was about to beat the shadow lord one of my party members didn't get one of the cutscenes so he couldn't do it.... I mean we were kind of sad that he couldn't do it since that mean we all have to go through it all over again >.> we decide that we can try to beat it with 5 people....(no tank at all) we beat it in a near pinch with the last spell killing him and he killed all of us. I mean I practically bragged about it because we were told it was IMPOSSIBLE to kill the guy with no tank but we killed him anyways. But like I said even though I was happy I was sad that the guy couldn't do the mission crying . Of course I never had been anywhere near sky(closes was the statue of Altana and Promathia) so I never had the feeling.

If it kind of bothers you so much that she's done Kirin and you never seen Kirin yet, then why not go into a sky shell? Then again though, Sky shell isn't anything too special. Although it does take a lot of wasted time and some effort to get things from sky, whether your team is really powerful, it still takes time and anything that takes time with a reward can still be a proud moment even if small.
Besides, since this person is your friend, they were probably just telling you what was up, what they were up to ingame just to make conversation. It doesn't need a congratulations even, just a "cool" or some kind reply back would be nice since you two are friends. But think of it like someone calling you in RL and saying they're in some other country that you might've never even visited, even though they could've already went to this country a lot.
Friends share things with each other, sometimes it may seem like bragging a bit to you, but if you keep up to the conversation, then you can ask questions too and even learn a little about the things you've never looked at or experienced.

I would say Congratulations to this person. They obviously took the time out (even if it was for the 5th or 100th time) to do the right things and take the right steps to fast track themselves to end game..
What is stopping you from doing the same? Is it because you are trying to get your own favored ls there? because if you are doing it that way then you can't complain about where someone else is at because you have chosen your own route to end game and it is a slower one. possibly a prouder one if you do get there, but still slower. It obviously meant something to them and for all you know they might see your potential and are trying to tease you into doing something more for yourself!
In other games I have played I have taken guilds (ls) to end game and both succeded and failed, and also jumped guilds as needed to get to end game. All have their own shortcomings to hate and achievements to be proud of. In the end I would not do the work of organising >.< its stress city.. and take the easier option of just finding people who are doing it or about to do it and tag with them.
