Welcome to The Gaians Against Cyber Guild

Cyber in all forms is against Gaia's Terms of Service under article #4 (Prohibited Conduct) which we all agreed to follow upon signing up. This fact seems to elude some people wandering around, but ignorance does not make their behavior any more acceptable – according to the rules they are to be reported immediately, no harassment necessary.

Many reasons for cybering have been suggested, most people don’t agree as to exactly why people do it, but all of us here agree that we don’t want to see it on Gaia. The idea that cybering is just another form of safe sex has been suggested (and usually found reasonable, as long as it stays online and no plans to meet in real life are made), but even then a widespread opinion seems to be that you might want to get to know someone a bit before initiating in an act which is universally understood as Intimate; cybering with just anyone who comes along is just trashy. You're not even supposed to tell people to “take it to PMs” - a rule which I support since on Gaia with all the 12 – 16 crowd is not the place you should be hanging out if all you’re looking for is to get laid. Adult entertainment is called Adult for a reason; you’re supposed to be mature enough to understand and handle what you’re seeing. By US law distribution of pornography to minors is illegal, making graphic discriptions of sexual acts (such as found infamously in Penthouse magazine and most cybersex chats) illegal when a 13 year old may be turned into a voyeur of such things.

I pose this question to those of you who have read this far: “Why would it be so bad to encourage kids today to do their experimenting later on, after they have shown some responsibility? I will admit that, yes, some kids act more mature than others, however, to make rules on a case-by-case basis would do more harm than good because each case cannot be examined individually to see which rule applies to whom. What do you think?”

A concept behind this humble Guild is that the Moderators obviously need help catching these people, and perhaps a successful Guild (one which didn't use its title to get people banned just because they don't like someone, and banned users that did), the idea would encourage Administration to create a class specifically for site-wide Cyber Moderation, or maybe just nullify the idea of such a class by making it unnecessary.

Gaia is rated PG-13, therefore; if you wouldn't see it in a PG-13 movie or tv show, please report it. Some of us are tired of seeing it, some of us are disgusted with it, others just don’t need to be exposed to that sort of material at this time. Sounds like something you support? We’d love to have you as an active member.

Do you have a problem with trying to eliminate cybersex on a PG-13 site? Terminate your account here and go find a community for whatever you feel like embracing far away from Gaia.

Guild Rules:
Gaia's Terms of Service all apply. (Those clearly state No Stalking, No Cyber, No Hacking, No Trolling).
