I'm sure other people have done the same, I was just wondering if anyone here has done such.
Basically, last night I started to keep a mix between a journal and a Book of Shadows. I'm using to help evaluate my beliefs, show my path, and to chart my spiritual and maturity levels.
I hope to be able to look back on it and see how far I've come, and to help myself grow through it.
Opinions on the idea? Any things you think I should scribe inside etc.?

My magickal journal's just that - a book I update every few days with records of what I've done recently, things I'm planning, dreams and divinations, what goes on in the guilds (since this is pretty much the only place I discuss magick with other folk) and some theories or ideas. I don't have a Book of Shadows per se, but I do want to start one at some point, with, preferably, some original material, rather than what most seem to do and just copy down other folk's stuff.

You won't have eyes tonight. You won't have ears or a tongue; you will wander the underworld blind, deaf and dumb... I have a journal of dreams that I have. I try to write them down as soon as I wake up so I don't forget. ...and all the dead will know: this is Hector, fool who thought he killed Achilles.

I had mine online, but I never did anything new...so it got boring and I never updated it. I just practice what I practice to get better at it o.0.

I have many journals, I'm old fashion and like to keep things in hard copy. One that's a mix of personal and magical journal-recording events and dreams. Another more decorative, un-lined one is just for rituals and diagrams. Another hardback one is public, full of stickers and quotes, pictures and random thoughts. The latest one is for the dark thoughts and confessions I wouldn't easily share with anyone else.
I love keeping my many journals but it is convenient to have a 3 ring Binder of Shadows also so you can add, organize and take out for easy reference. This handy if you also have a notebook that you carry around with you so if you write anything interesting you can plug it into the binder no problem instead of promising yourself you'll re-copy it. Also great, you can print things off the PC and hole punch them (all of my Reiki stuff is in there).
As for recording itself...write more instead of less. I found that noting the small things I often forget about is helpful-date of course, but also time of day, moon phase (or any astrological thing that's important to you), your current state (tired, stuffed after dinner, angry, so impatient you hardly want to write this crap down...) and random attempts at pictures of things you've seen (I'm not the best visual artist). Also random thoughts and mental tangents are good too.
It's really amazing and satisfying when I'm stuck on something and I flip through my journals and find that I had something come up in a meditation that hadn't made sense at the time months/years earlier that speaks directly to the situation at hand.
