Do you have any plans for your 2007 NaNo yet?
I'll be doing a steampunk style Dungeons & Dragons fantasy called... Steampunks.
A young man (fighter) A dark elf girl (refugee and sorceress) A female centaur (ranger and druid) A male gnome (tinkerer)
They link up and make their way to join the 2nd Magitech Expeditionary Force on the airship HMS Elmore.

*tackles first post* I'm really psyched about my NaNo this year. So much so that I came back to gaia to talk about it. xD Last year I made up my plot on the spot, eleven o'clock, October 31st. Literally. This plot I've had bouncing around in my head for almost two years. It's changed a bit, mind, but it's basically the same. So way in the future, after all the humans move away from Earth, a guy on a planet (wow, descriptive) buys out a company's stock and uses it to found a search to another planet. It's infested with dinosaur things, but he strikes oil, so he sets up a colony to mine the oil and pay for the colony to keep mining the oil to pay for the colony, etc. In order to keep the planet as much for his company as possible, he limits trade/contact with other planets so much that the generation born on "Ennead IX" know virtually nothing about the rest of the universe. He gets rich off it, makes himself supreme dictator, everyone loves him, he has a son. He's planning on setting his son as the new dictator since he's getting on a bit, but then he "jumps" off a building and the planet goes into chaos. People start blaming his son, so his advisors throw the kid and his little sister out and compaign themsevles for ruler. While the two kids are lost in the jungle, they find a hidden colony set up by another company that wanted the oil a long time before the first guy's colony, but that gave up and lost contact with "Armana." Two traders save the kids from dinosaur-things and bring them to Armana, where they live for a couple years. the traders come back and, against warning, one helps the son escape Armana back to Ennead, where a civil war over the new leader had been going on for a while. He sets out to reunite the people, but then gets murdered by the same woman who killed his father. OHSNAP. (Weak twist, I know. But I really wanted to kill the MC. xD) Oh, and everyone/thing has some kind of Egyptian name. :'D

I'm sorta psyched that this place isn't entirely dead. 0.o
But yes, my Nano will probably (emphasis on probably) will be roughly:
The apcolypis has come, brought about by (dun dun dun) vampires. Now the world is shrouded in enternal darkness (don't ask, haven't come up with some dooms day machience yet) and humans have become little more than intelligent cattle.
There's this girl, and she lives outside the "safe houses" (had a better name for it, but I's forgot.)
Anyway, it'll basically be about the reconstruction of mankind when they find out they're not the top of the food chain, and there's nothing they can do about it.
(Which just inspired me for a character. 0.o)
That probably sounds really lame (and if anyone says ANYTHING about vampires being overused, I'll shoot you in the foot), but it sounds much better in my head, and will turn out much better once I finally get a chance to write it.
Actually, I'm ubberly excited for the chance to write vampires in a very different light than I usually do. And there won't be any other preternatural creepy-crawlies to distract me. Like demons, and ubi, and weres, and faeries, and gargoyles, and...
Well, you get the picture. XD

The working title is "Devil's Handiwork," due to the fact that the main character's mother forces piles upon piles of chores upon her and reiterates (O_O last week's vocab word.. xD) that "idle hands are devil's handiwork." ("Mama said idle hands are, Devil's Handiwork, oh, the trouble you'll get into..." I'll love you forever if you know that song. xDD) But I'm hoping I can find something that will suit the story better by the end.
In her junior year, Cathy finds herself prey to sexual predator Jason. When Ryan runs to her rescue, she immediately befriends him. One day, after Jason takes it as far as physically hurting Cathy while Ryan is absent, Ryan tries to make his absence up to her by sexually pleasing Cathy. The sexual acts between Ryan and Cathy grow past the point of Cathy's discomfort, but Ryan will not accept no for an answer. The roles of the boys switch as Jason realizes what is happening and tries to help Cathy out of the sexually abusive relationship, and Cathy learns that first impressions aren't everything.
Kinda lame, I know. >< It sounds better in my head, though. It's very teen-fiction-y, but it doesn't seem like the general cliches you would find in teen fiction. =/
I'm attempting the Snowflake Method. It's going well, I think, but I took about a month-long hiatus in the planning-stage. ><;;

Anyone else got big plans for their story?
We had our local NaNo Kick Off Party early at an art gallery downtown with some cool swag. Included in the swag was a d6 die with a random happening chart to roll on just in case your story gets stuck and you need something wacky to move it along.

Kickoff parties sound like so much fun. I never go. Not a real social person, but they still sound like fun.
My NaNovel: Breach
Ishaan, 20, has suffered from sexsomnia since he reached puberty. He has unconsciously raped half a dozen people - women and boys - and was nearly hung for it twice. He is withdrawn and ashamed of himself, choosing to live five miles outside of town. he shares his home with one other person, his Keeper, who must lock him in his room before he sleeps, and only let him out after he wakes.
Roan, 26, suffers from Incubism, a condition which requires him to feed on sexual energy. He's a wanderer, refusing to let people get to know him and emotionally detached from sex, but he's tired of wandering, of being alone, and when he meets Ishaan it's like they were made for each other.
When Ishaan's Keeper wants to marry and have his own life, Ishaan hires Roan, who invades Ishaan's solitary existence and the two slowly form a friendship. Unknown to Ishaan, who cannot remember anything that happens while he was asleep, Roan takes advantage of Ishaan's condition, allowing the young man to have sex with him and feeding on the energy.
When a freak flood forces them out of Ishaan's prison and cuts them off from the outside world, Ishaan discovers that Roan has been allowing what Ishaan fears and despises about himself. Ishaan leaves, and without his evergy, Roan grows weak and desperate. When Ishaan returns, Roan nearly rapes him and Ishaan discovers what he is. Can they accept the darkest parts of themselves, or will their own self-hatred drive away the only person who could ever understand them?
