Who: Rune & Seer; although if someone might be around Trel's house & interested in becoming involved ask Hai or I & we'll probably think about it. ^_^ What: Seer comes to the house to ask someone to explain some things to her Where: Trel's house, out & about. When: Sometime after Seer & Aear met Igni, while AearHwesta is still avoiding everyone & staying to his ship at sea Why: hopefully will ease Seer's confusion. And maybe inadvertently help Rune as well.
The clearing around the house was quiet. Not even the familiar movement of Amaryllis amid the gardens could be heard. The cait cit was actually inside at the moment, baking pies in the kitchen. Sometimes she could be drawn from the gardens to do so. This was one of those times. Rune was glad of it.
The White Seed practiced with her staff on the flat ground scattered as usual with tiny white blooms. It was... difficult to hold her weapon with her paws. Her hold was never as firm as Rune would like. Or her thrusts as sure. It was humbling, really.
Sighing Rune turned her soft green eyes up at the sky as she paused in her practice. This life was different than she had hoped.
Perhaps if she felt useful... she would not think of how she had said all the wrong things to him.

The yellow flames, the dark grayish black of ash, the slightly oily effect of seeing bright colors through smoke. As tied to flames as the phoenix colored angelic was in coloration and spirit, some were suprised that her talents lay only in random spatters of foresight and an ability to tell if something was the truth, or wasn't.
It was that last ability that had Seer winging to Trel's place today. When she'd tried to confirm to herself that Aear was simply trying to protect her the other day, it had not rung true. And why... why had he said that she "wasn't for the likes of us"? Oh... she was so confused.
She banked when she saw Trel's yard, spying Rune who happend to be looking up at the same time. She landed without a thought, for once gracefully and as though she did it that way all the time. If she had been thinking about it, odds were she would have tripped up again.
She stood there, looking at Rune, confusion, frustration, even a bit of distress written across her features. "Um... hi..." She fidgeted for a moment and then all at once collapsed with a whimper in a rather Lily-esque fashion. "Help?..." She recognized Rune from the egg hunt, though that was about it. Atae said she'd seemed to be very nice and confident. Seer could use a little of both right now.

Rune blinked as the dreamy colors that had distracted her as if from smoke landed and spoke to her. Inwardly she chastised herself for the lax in her guard. But then were this angelic dangerous she would not have been able to pass the shields.
The soft plea for help drew the winged female from the cocoon of shyness that normally enveloped her outside if a battle situation. Her mind sifted through information, looking for this female's name. A residual gift from her psychic GF, Rune's memory was vast and very clear. Even the smallest detail she could bring to mind with very little thought. That... and sometimes a hint of the powers M'din had once granted her with his presence.
Softly she smiled, setting her staff aside and padding towards the phoenix visitor. "Seer, right? AearHwesta's lovely ward?" Her voice as usual was soft but clear & held none of the battle-hardness it drew into it during the hunt for Miaka & Tamahome's egg. "Please... help how?"

Seer took a steadying breath and slowly related her encounter with Igni and what had happened after Aear showed up, confusion showing plainly when she stumbled over Aear's responses about being her protector and when he'd told Igni to back off because she wasn't "for the like of them". "I..." She halted and gulped as if swallowing a sob or a wail. "I don't understand... why he said that... why he said it like that..." Her brow furrowed as her face creased in a frown and she dropped her head between her paws, unconsciously drawing up her wings against her body which had been sprawled limply around her form when she collapsed. "What... d-did he mean?"

While the young angelic spoke Rune listened diligently, her head crowned with its strawberry-blonde chignon nodding gently. A bit of her GF's gift seemed to reveal itself, perhaps because Seer herself was so emotional or for some other purpose but as Seer spoke it was as if Rune could see what had happened first hand. Through the angelic female's eyes, yes, for this was her memory. But with her own knowledge and experience that the younger kitsu certainly lacked. Rune was accustomed to watching, but never like this... not without M'din. Even 'before' it had been rare for Rune felt it was rude. Sometimes, like now, it was a great boon in catching things the story teller might have missed. She saw...
More than she was ready for.
Rune's soft green eyes widened. What she saw... if she was correct that opened up a whole new realm of ideas she was not sure she was ready to deal with. Certainly... if AearHwesta was not telling, or admitting to himself... could she? Should she?
The White SeeD pursed her lips. "It's... hard to say exactly. There's a few things that come to mind as possibilities." Rune studied the girl gently then crossed the distance between them and very lightly gave Seer a brief & tentative nuzzle. "Why don't you tell me what you have thought of about it since then? Perhaps it will help..."
Or at least give me a moment to collect my own thoughts. Can I be the one to tell her AearHwesta's nature?

Brief and tentative though the nuzzle might have been, it was like flipping a switch. Seer's frown relaxed, brow lifting to a more normal position, and the tenseness in her body eased up a bit. Her ears remained pinned back, confusion still obviously splayed across her features.
What had she thought about what happened so far? Things that were ifs, maybes, and possiblies that seemed to fit the puzzle but didn't quite add up. Not for her, anyway. Which is why she'd finally sought out someone to help her figure it out, and followed whatever twinge of foresight or instinct that had led her to come here... she knew somehow that Aear wasn't going to be here. And that there would be someone that could help.
"I... know when something is true, or not... but not necessarily why... so..." She sighed. "Igni was... flirting with me? I don't know why, we just met... I thought he was playing... he didn't know me well enought to be serious, I thought... but he was..." She trailed off, frowning again briefly. "But I don't know why Aear reacted like that... like he knew... but if Igni really liked me... but that doesn't sound true either. And the "likes of us"! I've never seen Aear flirt with anyone but Valefor and they've been... you know... together for longer than I've been around." She wasn't aware precisely what Igni's behavior meant, or that Aear had acted much the same once. She didn't know about Aear's past, she'd never found a need to ask, so of course she had no idea about how his behavior had changed, or how much, or for how long.
After a moment she finally blurted out the part that really had her confused. "I... I know he was protecting me. But... but... I don't know if it was just because he was protecting me. But... what else could it be? He's always looked after me..." She covered her face with her front paws. "I'm so confused..."

It was all Rune could do to keep her eyes from widening larger than saucers as she listened to the younger female. Seer suspected? Clearly the angelic had no full clue on the matter... but that she even suspected there was something more than a 'father's' protection to the sailor's actions... that was saying a lot.
Rune sighed softly. At least Seer seemed to have calmed some. Definitely something to be said for physical comforting.
Hmm... how to put this delicately: telling the truth yet not telling things that were not hers to reveal? "AearHwesta is a well traveled and experienced sailor. I suppose there are any number of things he could have seen similar between himself and this Igni that could have caused him to use 'us' instead of 'you'. Also, it could be simply that he holds you in a very high regard while himself lower in some way."
Ah... this was not very good. She really could not avoid giving some answer to the more pertinent question. It was clear this one held more sway over the angelic's state. Rune gently put a wing around Seer, resting her head near her covered face. "If you think there is more to his protection of you, with the way you have of knowing if something is true or not, then that is likely the case. But you don't have to let it bother you. We can't always know why something is, much as we might want to. I might not be the best at giving you a why, for I could be wrong & in so misleading you do more harm unintentionally than the confusion you have merely not knowing. But..."
Run raised a paw to stroke the young angelic's cheek. No wonder Aear had fallen for her, if her suspicions were correct. "AearHwesta might let slip the answers you seek. I suspect he's the only one who holds the truth of his behavior, whether he knows it or not."

Seer listened quietly, leaning into the stroking when it was finally offered. She made one of those little noises a kit would make when rubbed in a nice spot by a parent or older sibling. "I... I wouldn't know what to say..." She let out a long, quiet sigh, all the tension draining from her, finally. Her brow furrowed again though, just slightly. "I have a feeling... he'd get upset. I don't wanna do that... he's my best friend..." Would it seem odd to Rune that Seer chose the term "best friend" rather than "father" or something similar? It never occured to Seer that it might be an odd sentiment. She knew Aear wasn't her father. Same as she knew Valefor wasn't her mother. And while she loved them both her feelings simply weren't the same as a child's for its parents.

It came as a bit of a shock how Seer referred to her 'father' albeit a pleasant one. After the initial widening of her eyes Rune was able to smile gently. Perhaps... well time would tell.
"I'm glad he's your best friend." Her smile was warm with that truth. Rune had a special fondness for the erstwhile sailor. He had been gracious and ceased pressing on her his advances the day he found her on the shore as soon as he knew her heart belonged to another. It did not matter whether the other returned the favor or not... Rune would be forever grateful of that courtesy. "Then don't say anything. Don't ask at any rate. If there is another reason for why he was protective in such a way quite likely it will be revealed again. You might not see it's the same when it does, but there will come a time when time when you do."

Seer thought that over for a minute, the beginnings of a frown melting back off her features to one of quiet puzzlement. Though it was a... content sort of puzzlement this time.
Not quite willing to let go of the comforting contact, the young phoenix swiveled her head and tucked it under Rune's, a silent pleading laced into her words when she asked, "You think so? Really?" She just needed that one last reassurance... that things would sort themselves out, sooner or later. That she didn't need to keep agonizing over this because she was worried about Aear because of how strangely he seemed to be almost acting. He hadn't seemed certain of how to act around her lately... and she hadn't seen him since the other day. When she'd gone to look for Hiril he always seemed to have her out somewhere and somehow she wasn't sure if she should really go out looking when she wasn't sure where he'd gone. But maybe... if Rune was right... maybe it would be ok. Or maybe he'd come back soon. Or... something.

Rune chuckled softly, gently nuzzling the girl. "Can't you tell the truth, Seer?"
It was a light tease, intended to be rhetorical. Clearly, for Rune continued. "That you won't have to ask? That AearHwesta will again reveal whatever it is? That eventually you will see that each time it is the same thing fueling his actions and giving them that 'something's not right' feeling? Yes. I think so. Really."
Because if the sailor truly loved Seer in the way Rune suspected, he would not be able to hide it forever. Nor could he hide from Seer forever, as the SeeD suddenly realized was what he was doing. Not just Seer... AearHwesta was wisely avoiding the house -and all the telepaths & empaths within it. He knew... and wanted no one else to know.
How very interesting.
She might have to pay him a visit.
