hay i heard that one of many ppls favorite adv jobs is pld for some reason every1 goes with pld id have to say that my fav. is brd because im a rdm and brd is sooo similar to rdm is cool blaugh

I'm a RDM (well...WHM/RDM but quickly discovering I'd rather play RDM/WHM so that's bound to change) and have loved that job so much that I'm confident I'll enjoy BRD which is the advanced class I chose to pursue before creating my own character (just watching my friends play).
So yes, totally BRD though I am fond of PLD (and am pressuring my WAR/THF friend to go PLD/WAR)...but I'd never want to play it.
The amusing thing is -- I'm a person who avoids magic whenever she can in other games and generally chooses to be a ranger or low-magic class...but in FFXI I just kind of fell in love with the the magic enhancement/dehancement classes.

well im missing pld, sam, an nin but outta the rest i gotta say my favorite 2 are summoner and dragoon. Smn cause the fact i want fenrir so bad after seeing damn near all of em in action. An being a old school player dragoon has always been my fav but they sweetened it by adding breath attacks according to your sub. 3nodding

Hmm...I just realized I like a good amount.
DRG - I like since in the end, it'll help me with my farming sweatdrop
SAM - From what I've seen a lot lately, I feel like taking it up to 50 at least because compared to something done in Kazam, a SAM I was with took no hits while I was taking more hits and resting more then him when we were killing gobs that were being brought to the zone so I feel like taking SAM up for the nice dmg they can dish out and the nice job they can do with not taking hits.
NIN - I like it because it helps me skill up some weapons I know I need to have skilled up or bored and there's some one-handed weapons I have laying around I haven't lvled yet. Also handy if I need to do something and I need to use invisible so I'm able to save gil with 99 tools to use Tonko compared to buying stacks of the prism powder over and over and over becaues of the 12 per stack so it's worth it in the long run for me. It'll also be a nice sub for my WAR if I end up getting a very picky pt leader that won't let me use my THF sub period and I've been meaning to try WAR/NIN in a pt since I feel like the Utsusemi will be a nice help on my health if it drops too fast. I'm also finding that it'll be useful in Boyahda Tree against the spiders and their deadly Sickle Slash that took down a male Hume PLD52 the two times it was used last night in the pt I was in...So basically...That shows how poorly the healing was done around the pt but shows how badly a PLD can go down without blink @.@
PLD - Good if I'm a bit frusturated on not getting any invites for most of the day on my WAR/THF and just want to get something done if I'm too bored in not wanting to farm and etc. Also helps me with my shield skill and sword skill...If I ever get my PLD high enough where Sword 106 isn't capped anymore.
RNG - It'll be able to help me not miss on all the ranged weaponskills I can use right now since I've been working on bows and crossbows on my WAR a lot and now a gun on my THF.
BRD - Not really far with my BRD yet since I've slacked off a bit but from what I've seen, I love them as a WAR that uses RNG and etc.

SMN - What's there NOT to like about them? I find them pretty handy if there's a stubborn RDM53 that won't cast haste on others beside herself if we have no WHM and the SMN calls out Garuda to use Hastega. I also like SMN because of other abilities their avatars can do such as Titan's ability to Stoneskin the entire pt, Garuda's Hastega and Blink ability, Ifrit's Warcry ability if mine isn't ready yet, Ramuh's ability to give Enthunder (found it a bit nice in a little way sweatdrop ), Shiva's Sleepaga (was great use when it was me as a WAR35 I think with a SMN47 and we were able to take on the leeches to do the first part of NIN with Titan on DD with us), and Fenrir's...Wait...I don't know any of Fenrir's abilities since I haven't gotten into a pt that has a SMN that can use Fenrir yet...Ah well. Bound to see the abilities sooner or later.
BST - I find them good with their jug pets and etc. when it comes to certain stuff...Such as a BST and a crab jug pet taking on Sea Horror with the crab tanking. I actually find BST fun from the looks of it. I feel like taking it up sometime to help understand some mobs and etc. a bit easier for my personal knowledge.
DRK - Haven't lvled it yet but I find them to be a nice job with some handy black magic spells and also nice DDs. Now with Stun if there's no BLM around for some reason, then I find it a nice thing to do against some mobs that won't resist it that can dish a nice amount of dmg to you.
So...Can't really vote for one, exactly, but I pretty much like all of the advanced jobs...lol. Didn't realize I would be typing this much sweatdrop

I like RNG, because i love how they are the only other meele class that is stronger then the MNK, that and i think there AH looks Hot and PIMPed out...and i like the wide scan thing and the constant arrows sticking out of the mobs...i have yet to level RNG.
Next is SAM, there AF looks sooooooooo awsome, and i always liked samuri(sp?) ever since i saw "The Last Samuri".

I don't really like any of the Advanced Jobs except for Paladin. I don't plan on playing it, but it's my favorite, just because I like the "Holy Crusader of Light who smites his enemies" kind of thing.
And... is there a weapon skill where you bash somebody with your shield?

[~Soku~] And... is there a weapon skill where you bash somebody with your shield? It's not a weaponskill but a job ability called Shield Bash. PLD gets it at lvl 15 and it can stun a target. The opposite job ability of this is Weapon Bash that for a DRK20. It can also stun a target but it uses a two-handed weapon.

I like Dark Knight because it's basically the melee version of the Black Mage (my fave job), versus Paladin being the melee version of White Mage.
...and I love how the AF looks, too.
