its interesting how they hold there sticks. ive never seen them held that way. is that a common jazz drumming stance?

Yep traditional grip is actually very commonly used. I didnt really know about it till i started studying drums in school. Many drummers use it if you look at Jimi Hendix's drummer he uses that style of drumming.
This video is awsome i watched all three parts like a little boy watching his favorite cartoon heheh.
Now i need to find vids like these for other instruments.

Carter Bueford of the Dave Matthews Band has some of the craziest drum solos I've ever heard!
Also, check out Tony Royster Jr. He was better than most by 12 years old!
