I'm looking for either a sewing or knit or crochet pattern for a nice cape or cloak. Can anyone help me. I'd like it so I can wrap it around my body completely and then be able to grab it and hold it out to form a nice semi circle. Can anyone help?

You don't say whether your looking for a free pattern or not. I searched "free cloak pattern" and came up with plenty of links.
You might have good luck searching on pages about the Society for Creative Anachronism, I think everyone in the society wears some sort of cloak.
There are also patterns for cloaks in the pattern books at fabric stores. Wait for a sale on patterns though, I can't see paying $10 to $15 for a pattern.

I'm assuming you want a full length one and not a half cape, right?

Your best and easiest bet would be to look in the costume sections of the pattern books at fabric stores and choose a cape from there.
If you'd really rather knit or crochet, try finding a half circle shawl pattern and just clasp it at the throat.

Maybe if you look for a baby blanket, though.... you could just make it larger until it's long enough for you. Search engines are fantastic tools for finding patterns, it just takes a little bit of patience. Your description was rather vague so I suggested that you look it up yourself because only you know what you really want. I could have spent hours looking up patterns for you but I didn't have hours to spend so I told you how to find it yourself. I didn't search for a knitted or crocheted cloak because I felt that the weight of a full cloak would pull the stitches out of shape and it wouldn't look the way you sounded like you wanted it to.
I use goodsearch.com, but google is a better search engine. I use goodsearch because it gives money to my favorite charity every time I search for something.

It is as long as my arms so I can still use my hands for doing stuff and when I hold my arms out to the side it makes a half circle shape because it is a full circle cape.
but yea, all I did was make a poncho with a full circle and enough room cut out the top to fit my head, then cut down the front, then sew on a hood I copped from a hoodie I had, then added fluffy bunny ears.
(you probibly don't want the fluffy bunny ears)
For a really basic cape you don't really need a pattern. but making a full length (if that is what you ment by wrap around your body compelatly) circle, or even half circle, cape will require so much fabric your wallet will cry so the price of the pattern won't be that much in comparison.
I will hit up craftster.org to see if I can find any usefull sewing threads for you, we more or less have you sorted for knitting advice.

I did find the instructions for the poncho that I used first off to make my cape, or at least I think thats what it is because I can't get the immages to work and if the immages are broken instead of temporarally bugging me then the link won't do you much good.

Musing- I've seen knitted cloaks that looked pretty good- but I think they were knitted on really fine needles and then felted, which would take forever. They have a really cool drape to them, though. Lucy is running around in one in the recent Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe movie, amd I think I saw one as part of a viking costume once.
