I've been going to a private christian school all my life, church also. I've struggled with my faith since my last year in middle school, it would fluctuate often. Then last year I felt that no matter what I did, I was lost. I didn't have any faith left. Christianity should be something important to learn in a Christian school, but my school doesn't seem to stress alot of importance on it, instead they seemed to assume everyone was Christian and focus on schoolwork. We only learned the surface of what Christianity was, we never delved into what Chrisitanity was really about or why Christians are Christians. The times I went to church seemed to do the same. I've stopped praying everyday and don't bother thinking about my faith often. When my friends talk about it, I just go along with what they're saying, they don't question me or my faith.
Lately, I began to think though have I been a Christian all along or was I just pretending? I don't even know anymore and it actually scares me, it honestly does. I can't talk to my friends about this or my parents, just because their answer I know will make me pull farther away from the point I am at now. I don't know if this is normal to happen. The rest of my life seems to be really fine for most of it. It's just when it comes to Christianity I am totally, completely lost in where I'm standing at all.

At one time I felt like that.
For a long time, I felt like that. It was certainly disheartening. But take courage, if just a little bit: part of the whole process is acnowledging that you have a problem; struggling with it; not ignoring it. So you're better off than you could be.
How about reading God's Blogs by a dude named Lannie Donohay (or somesuch last name). It's got a protestant mindset, if you're Holy Roman or Eastern Orthodox Catholic... but it's still pretty good.
Another lifter-upper is The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.
The latter book gives a comical edge to Christianity.

it's probably because you were living off of other's faith, not you own. Seriously, take a step bak - just a little farther than you are, and look at your life. Pray, read you bible. Build you own faith in God, one that won't waver. It's hard, I know. I was in your position less than a year ago. I've also found that Christian schools don't really help that much. Most people view them as places to dump their deliquient children. The only way to find the answers to your questions is in the Bible, it has them all. 3nodding
And that doubt? It's not you, it's not God, it's Satan. Don't let him nag you. Answer the question he's put in front of you, in this case "am I pretending?" then do what you can to fix the problem. It will get fixed, you just have to rely on God. Try attending youth group, and find someone you trust to talk it over with who will pray for you.

The question I pose to you is this:

What is Christianity?

What does it mean to you?

Yes, you can know all about what the Bible says. But that doesn't make you a Christian.

What does? What makes someone a Christian? I'd like you to think about that. Being a Christian goes a lot deeper than Biblical knowledge. It's an ongoing, developing relationship with God and the people around you. It's about learning to love yourself. It's about understanding respecting yourself and others. It's about seeing God in other people, and about seeing His hand in yourself. It's about a constant development and growth of your heart.

It's about living.

There's so much to being a Christian. So think about what your definition of Christian is. If you're operating from an overly simplistic view of "Christian", that may be a large part of your problem.

Another book that might help is My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. It's helped a lot of people, including me, and I believe it will help you.

Going to a school that doesn't focus on God can be hard at times. It feels like you're in a minority. Then it surprises you how many Christians are actually in the school. It's kind of like what Elijah felt when he was being persecuted by Jezebel. He thought he was the last one who still loved God, but He spoke to Elijah and told him that there were 7,000 others who were still loyal to God.

I'm praying for you, iceangile.
