I agree with her that there might be some "symbolism" behind the hand thing, but in regards to solely the Final FMV, he's simply grabbing her hand.
And I'm a CloTi fan. XD
Sure, the action can be the result of a desire to make sure she doesn't die either, but he would have grabbed anyone's hand if they had been falling and if he could have reached them. Yuffie, Vincent, Barrett. XD
He's a friend first and foremost.
