Shaking his thick coat out, Veshengo padded for the water. How long had he been walking...? He had no idea, but a smell in this place told him it was a haven... A friendly place. He'd only seen one other dog since entering the Southlands, and that had been one that looked strangely similar to Temari. He couldn't place it, but something was familiar... He'd also noticed the obviously older dog, when the winds shifted, smelled somewhat similar. It made him curious and he wanted to seek him out, to see.
The sun was high as the dark male lapped up the water, ears perked and twitching for the slightest sound. Though it felt safe... He knew he was in somebody else's pack lands, tresspassing. He just hoped they weren't violent. A twig snapping made him jump and turn, hackles raising in fear and surprise.

Though blind, Ticdat could still tell when somebody new arrived. It wasn't often, though, that it was another wild dog. Ears back a little, she sniffed at the newcomer. "Hello... Who's there...?" An ingrained sense told her to sing a song of greeting, but she wanted to make sure it was friend, not foe. She had experienced the terror of foe too often before to not be wary, after all.

veshengo relaxed, noticing the non-threatening manner of the other dog. He realised they were both scared - Him of being in a new territory alone, and her... He couldn't tell. His nose twitched as he smelled that smell again, the same one Temari had... Or a close one, anyway. Shifting on his paws, he glanced at the water. "Veshengo... Um... Who are you...?"

The female's ears twitched as she listened, hearing the nervouseness of the other. So they were both wary... And not an agressive wary, either; it was the sort where they would turn and run at the first sign of danger. She relaxed just a bit, nose twitching. "I am Ticdat..." She could hear his fur rustling... But that was strange, considering he was a wild dog. She'd only ever heard the fur of her family, as well as felt it. And from the short time in her life where she could see... She knew it was short. "Your fur... It sounds different... Why...?"

With that one simple statement of his fur, it sank in for Veshengo that Ticdat was blind. He rustled his fur a bit, tilting his head. "It's long and thick... I admit, not the best thing out here in the plains...." He sat down, watching her. "Um... Do you know a dog named Temari...?" It was a shot in the dark.. But it was worth asking. The scent... It never escaped him that she smelled somewhat similar. And yet, she smelled very faintly like his mother. Were THEY related?

Ticdat shook her head, sitting with her back to the brush; She knew where it was, as the branches and leaves gently brushed her fur. "No, but the name is not unfamiliar... My father, Raka, told me about her... He said that she's his sister, and she lives very far away with Mother's cousin. I've never met them, but... I imagine they're nice." After all... Her parents were two of the nicest dogs she'd ever known. Why wouldn't her aunt and cousin be nice?

Her father was Temari's brother...?! That meant... "Oh! No wonder you smell like Temari, then! You're her niece!" His thick fluffy tail wagged with joy, pleased to have deduced this. His ears flicked a little, though. "Who's your mother's cousin...?" There were only so many adult female wild dogs back in the Mpinzani pack. At least, ones that would have pups around his age... She couldn't mean the alpha female was her mother's cousin!

"Mother described her once... She said her cousin is black and white with green eyes... I wish I could have seen her, myself..." Ticdat let out a sigh, then lay down. There was so much she wished she could see. For a moment, the scars on her face from the badger's claws hurt, reminding her of her sheer and utter stupidity as a pup. Her ears twitched a little, listening to the world around her.

"Black and... White..." Veshengo's ears lifted as he declared, "My mother is black and white with green eyes!" He got up and went over, sniffing at Ticdat. Yes, yes, she held the faintest similar scent to his mother! And as he sniffed around, he found the scent of an adult female who smelled even closer. But they wren't the same, only marginally. "Ticdat, I think we're cousins!" His mother had neglected to tell him, in the brief time he saw her again, that she had any cousins or family. Somehow, it made the revelation all the more special and better.

Lifting her head, the blind wild dog flicked an ear. "Cousins...?" She smiled just a little, tail wagging in the brush. She had a cousin.... Though... If their mothers were cousins... "Second cousins... But still cousins." She stretched out just a little and yawned. "They never told me I have cousins..." As she lay her head down, Ticdat pondered over this information. If she had a second-cousin... Did she have cousins on her father's side, too...?

Veshengo lay down near Ticdat, watching her fall asleep. What was it like to be unable to see the world around you? He looked at his oddly colored paws, musing over this for a moment. Letting out a sigh, he looked about and rose, going to get something to eat. He was unaware, though, of the dark blue eye watching as he left to hunt. All that was on his mind was to bring his cousin something to eat, since she obviously couldn't do it on her own.
