Ohhh I just LOVE silk... I know that doesn't sound very original, but I love it! Lace sounds like it would be nice though!
habotai silk has the nicest flow and flutter! but it wrinkles terribly, so most costumes are made from polyester chiffon.
sad the tribal 10 yard skirt that i am working on is made of light weight (bubble guaze) navy fabric. my turkish costume is made of white gauze under dress with a double sided cotton/poly brocade. I think the kid of fabric you choose is really a question of what style of dancing you will be doing. do ya need something light and airy for spins? or heavy for persian or moroccan/tunisian tea tray balance?
