I can't give you guys any links. But I CAN tell you some of it is on veoh.com and youtube.com. But it's RAW. I can't find it subbed anywhere.
And since it raw, I don't have a clue as to what's going on with Ryuk's eyes.
WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS RED EYES???!!! NOW THEY'RE PLAAAAAAAAAAIN!!!

He's OLDER. Since the special is from Ryuk's point of view, the first Shinigami (the one who visits Ryuk) basically wants to know what happens if you drop the DN into the human world. So the shinigamis tell him to visit Ryuk, because Ryuk had done it a long time ago.
So Ryuk tells the other shinigami about what could happen.
I would guess this is set about... say, fifty (fivehundred XD?) years after DN (at least XD) based of Ryuk's aging. But we'll never get to know I guess.

Its really not worth seeing. I mean the L funeral scene was absolutely amazing, and the scenes with ryuk at the begging and the end were worth a watch. But really all it was was a complication of important parts of the first arc.

Well duh. That was said even before airing it. But I loved the extra scenes and overall I enjoyed it.

I've seen two scenes. The cemetery part was pretty much "wtf" for me xD
But the special doesn't really follow the original storyline, since the Yotsuba guys deaths and the meeting with L were extremelly different from the manga and series.
I actually tought the Red eyes missing were due to the fact he traded them thrice, but yeah, like Keyhala said, it's just probably because of his current age.
