Too bad most of his stuff got incinerated, it sounded like he had quite a few excellent 'monster of the week' stories.
From what I've seen, I think the 2nd Doctor/Jamie/Zoe was one of the best teams in the show... right up there with 4th/SJS and 4th/Romana #2.

Yeah, I think Doctor/Jamie/Zoe was a great team, too. They were fun and knew each other. Good at getting in trouble.

I love the Second Doctor so much...he's so adorable, but he's got that really sneaky and devious side that characterises the Seventh and that really hard-line "no second chances" side that characterises the Tenth. And both traits tend to just spring out of nowhere and suddenly remind you that this guy isn't just a clown but someone playing for the highest stakes and playing to win.
As everyone's said, the Doctor/Jaime/Zoe crew is bliss. A wonderful mix of personalities with real chemistry...and what comes over more than anything is how much they all liked each other. They're the sort of TARDIS crew that you imagine fell asleep on the sofa together after every adventure, having a little cuddle and watching the telly.
That bit in The War Games where the Doctor says to Zoe, "You're a brave and clever girl!" just melts my heart every time. It's the sense of glee with which the line is delivered, as if the Doctor simply can't belive how lucky he is to have friends so wonderful.

I can't believe there's a Second Doctor thread in this guild that I haven't posted in! I guess it's cos it's hiding here.
Although the 8th does come a very close second (mostly out of my own fangirlishness) the Second Doctor is definitely my favourite of the incarnations. He manages to capture everything that I'd like in a Doctor; that protective almost fatherly streak, that childish excitement at how wonderful the universe is and that cunning (which the First Doctor disguised with his age and the Second Doctor disguised with his clowning around).
I also loved the cowardice (which you never knew whether it was real or not) and the way he failed a lot of the time, except for when it really mattered. And I agree, Jamie and Zoe were the best companions, they were opposite types but still loyal friends and they balanced out both sides of Two's personality perfectly. Though I figure Two would have got along with anyone.
