"But DAAAaaaaaaad!"
A sickeningly cloying voice sprang from the jungle, causing the frightened fleeing of many small, intelligent animals. A voice like that screamed trouble.
"Come on! You know, I AM a grown-up now," the voice continued, swinging from whiny and petulant to smug and self-satisfied in something nearing the speed of light.
A few more creatures fled.
"And you know, like, I really am the good one, you know," the voice added, going to sweet in an instant.
Only the worms remained to see the source. A large, pale lion plodded through the forest, annoyance and exasperation in ever step, wearing the look of one who was incredibly used to this nonsense. Following at a less steady, more springy fashion was a slightly darker lioness, a good deal smaller, with black zebra stripes across her otherwise similar coat. It was pretty evident who the terrible ruckus was coming from.

A sigh came from the large form of Triv, seeming to pretty well encompass the feeling of his soul.
"Senna, I said no, I'm pretty sure you must have heard me. Especially since I'm pretty sure I said it, oh, I dunno, about a dozen times," he said slowly, ear flicking slightly at the crashing sound of his daughters movement. It was a wonder she didn't starve moving around like that. Something about the grace of a cat had lost itself in that girl, all that remained was the seemingly endless amounts of joints that aloud her a pace more like flailing then walking.
Of course, he'd seen her be silent before. After all, how else was she supposed to listen to all the gossip? But it seemed to require a certain concentration from her that she seemed to lack most of the time.
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad," she whined back, putting on a convincing look of innocence and sadness.
"Look, Senna? I'm sorry, but you cannot go on a great journey in search of beautiful love, okay?"

"YOU ARE SO UNFAIR!" she huffed, hurrying up to bounce along a little in front of him, attempting to give him THE LOOK. She'd tried to pick it up from her mother, but she wasn't sure it would work. Not that it mattered, her dad was EASY. Enough whining and pouting and fit throwing and she's be aloud to go on her beautiful quest for beautiful love, and heck, he'd probably even escort her out and wish her good luck.
See if he didn't.
"Look dad, I'm an adult type lion now, I have adult type, uhm..."
She'd almost said needs, but this was her dad, and that was wrong. Besides, she wasn't really sure it was true. Frankly, she didn’t really know what the needs were. Maybe more sleep and a softer patch of ground. Something for the back pain? Softer foods too she supposed. Ew, she was glad she wasn’t going to get old.
"I mean, you don't want me to be as happy as you and mom are!?"

Triv laughed dryly.
As happy as he and Hasana were? That was a thought. The kid was obviously not old enough to go on a search for beautiful anything if she believed that. Not that he thought he made Hasana unhappy, or, goddess-forbid, vise versa, but the two of them weren't exactly sunshine and butterflies. Life did that to you. Especially life with 6 daughters who seemed hell-bent on outdoing each others troublesome ways.
"Senna, do you even know what you're asking for? I mean, really?"
He laughed again and then instantly regretted it. He really, really didn't want to know! Really! Imagine if she said yes! Worse, what if she said no! Surely Hasana had talked to her, right? It wouldn’t' fall to him, not... THE talk.
He stopped dead and gave his daughter a look of intense, spine chilling fear.
Things were about to get very, very uncomfortable.

Senna tilted her head.
Did he think she was stupid? What was with that look anyway? And what kind of a stupid stupid question was that? A stupid one, that's what kind it was!
"Geeze dad, obviously," she said smugly, missing the expression of terror and relief that crowded her fathers face, "It's about finding a mate."
She stopped and gave him a look, "you know, so you can do things like... tell them what to do, and make them hunt for you and stuff," she said, with finality.
She wasn't really sure it was right. Or really if that was all it was. As far as she could tell, and somewhere cubs came into the whole matter, but the having someone else to boss around seemed to be the important bit. What else could there be?
"So you see, dad, I need to go find such beautiful love, and you should let me go, all... brave like"

"Finding a mate... to boss around."
Triv's expression could only be labeled as priceless. A better description might be 'a lot like the look you give a street-mime'. Of course, Triv had never seen a street, let alone a mime, but the look was the same. Senna might as well have been an alien for all that he understood her.
"Uhn, I think you're confused."
That was obvious. Were all his daughters this nuts? Swa wasn't so bad, neither was Mik, but other then that it seemed that he was pretty much a terrible father. There was no other way to explain it.
Someone to boss around? Well, he supposed it was better then some of the other things she could have said. Things like...
He winced. Such thoughts were not to be thought.

Senna sat down firmly, giving her father a look. Her look was quite a bit different from his. For one, her ears were back, for two, her eyes were narrowed. It might have been confused with anger, but what it really was, well, that was a lot more dangerous.
She wanted to know what he was thinking.
"Confused? What do you mean dad? Are you hiding something from me?" she asked, indignant.
It was hard to imagine there was something she didn't know. She prided herself on knowing all the good dirt, regardless of its truth. It was true enough if someone said it. So how could he possible know something she didn't?
Was there really more to beautiful love then telling someone else what to do? Because that seemed pretty nice on its own. Beautiful love must be really nice if it was better then JUST bossing someone around.

'Oh goddess,' he thought, ears flying back, 'not the LOOK.'
Triv looked up.
Then he looked down.
And then he looked all around. However, that didn't seem to cut it. With a sigh of defeat he met her eyes again, just in time for her to ask her terrible, mind-scarring question.
"Something!?" he squeaked, tail flicking.
With a deep breath he cleared his voice.
"No, uhm, I'm not hiding anything Senna, It's just that's... not what mating is about," he said, nervous to the core.
He was NOT ready for this. Not at all.

She grinned.
Her dad was SO easy. He folded like a leaf, all she had to do was push it. It worked every time. She’d make a great mate. Her grin faded, however, at his statement.
"Its NOT!?" she shrieked, filled with impotent rage.
HELLO, there it went! Her chance to have one person who could only listen to her, RUINED? Why, what could possibly be more important about mating? There was nothing better then being the boss! She knew it too!
"What else could there possibly be!?" the piercing of her voice would have frightened away birds... had any hung around.
She glared at him, tail flicking irritably from side to side as her muscles tensed, "are you lying to me?"

Triv winced.
That girl had quite a set of lungs on her. He had no clue where that had come from.
"What else? Well, I mean, there are a lot of things Senna, I mean, bossing someone around is not exactly a good reason to search for love. That’s not really beautiful either," he said, with a slight chuckle.
He really just needed to keep pulling her away from the subject of what it was actually about.
Really, she was his little girl after all, regardless of how terrible she was.

"Well," she said snapping at him, "What's it about then mister know-it-all?"
She stood up and gave him a dirty look, pacing a bit.
There was know way he'd know, was there? And if he did, what was she going to do? Obviously she needed to find a mate, that's what adults did. You were respected if you had a mate. Even if it wasn’t' about just bossing them around. This was a problem though, what if it was something weird?
Chances were that it was weird.
Her journey for beautiful love was not going the way she planned at all.

"Uhm."
Well, that was a question too forward to dodge, wasn't it? This was not going well.
Options? Well, he could tell her, but that was not going to happen. There were something’s that males were not supposed to do, and this was one of them. He could lie, but that would be worse, he was sure. Someday it would come back and bite him in the a**. He could attempt to calm her down, perhaps promise to get her something to distract her, but she seemed pretty irate, probably to irate to bribe. So, what was left?
Hasana never had troubles like these.
Hasana....
Triv brightened. That was it, right?
"Senna," he said, standing up suddenly to look down at her, "Go ask your mother."
And with that he turned around and stalked away, pleased as pie. He hadn't even considered that Hasana would ruin it. She knew more about this kind of thing then he did, plus, she was his mate, and therefore the one who bossed him around, right?
He laughed slightly. At least his problems were solved.

Senna snorted at the retreating figure of her father.
How irresponsible, running away like that! Oh well, her mother was not quite as easy to con, but she no doubt had better sense. She would see the need for beautiful love, and no doubt her feminine senses would lead Senna on the right path.
Now, to find her mother....
