Seriously guys, she's a work in progress. Here she is, my 1993 240SX Coupe. She'll be a Silvia when I'm done with her.
This is what she looks like now:

And this is what she'll look like when I'm finished:

Nope, my car is the American model of the S13. It's the same car except for the front end and the engine. Oh, and don't forget the right hand drive. My car came with a KA24DE engine, and the Japanese Silvia came with an SR20DET. Other than that, they are one and the same. That's why if I buy the front body panels and headlight assemblies for a Silvia, they will bolt right on to my car with no fabrication or anything. The same with the SR20. It will fit right down into my car. The single cam 240's have a problem with this, since the SR20 is a twin cam and their tachometers can't be compatible. They have the KA24E engine. I have a KA24DE, which means I have a twin cam engine. But, as I said, from the windshield back, they are the exact same car.

strange, i see a lot of S13 with SR20DETs here. they arent a kit either, once in a month i'll catch a S15 somewhere on the interstate. its not surprising at all knowing that there are nissan Skylines lurking around, there mind as well be Silvias.
I like the S13, i wish you much luck.

The 240SX is the S13 skeleton with a 180SX front end, which makes it (in my home country's terms) a "One-via" (One-eighty SX + silVIA.)
Since it is a common practice to replace front end parts of a 180SX with the front fenders, bonnet, bumper, and headlights from the S13 Silvia, I would say that the project would work.
If you're thinking about swapping to the SR20DET, make sure you do something about the cooling system. It's one of the two 90's Nissan weaknesses, the cooling and the brakes.

Instead of swapping it for an SR20, I was thinking about building a KA-T instead. More horsepower, more durable engine (they don't use them in trucks for nothin'), not to mention the fact that I already have the engine. If I'm correct the came with forged connecting rods, sleeves, and a cast iron block, making the engine damn near bullet proof.

The SR has alot of potential as a tuning base, that is something I've known for a while. But the KA, I haven't the knowledge to really advise anything about.
The advantages of using the SR20DDET: It was used until the S15 spec R, which means it was in production till 2002. You'll be able to find some in quite good condition.
It is a very popular tuning base, so there are plenty of aftermarket parts around.
The block is still being used in the X-Trail's SR20VE, so you can still get that block new from Nissan if you wanted to.

Why exactly would we laugh? It's a very clean car. Personally, I'd try for something a bit more original than the old JDM conversion, but I wish you luck anyway, it'll be a very nice-looking car if you can pull it off.
Nice job finding a 240SX coupe! I know they're far more difficcult to find than the fastback.

I'm impressed because they are hard to find around here. See a 240sx will run you about 4k+ for one with 120Kmiles on it. So many people buy them as project cars. I simply could never find one in good enough of condition to merit spending 4grand on one.
