yea, well, sorta

I live about an hour outside chicago in the western burbs (only 30 minutes without traffic really)

Hm, my brother lives outside of Chicago. I'm not exactly sure where though xd He hasn't lived there that long, and I'm not at all familiar with the general area.

thats pretty spiffy, I live outside Aurora which is the second largest city in this godforsaken state. Seriously, outside Chicago lives nothing but a upper middle class society where people all drive their roaring black SUVs from their big McMansions to the local mall which has the same stores as the next mall and the next ><'

Diversity has died out here...

My brother is in Des Plains (I think that's how it's spelled). I'm not at all sure where that is in relation to Aurora. But I think I will actually be headed up that way some time either late this year or early next to go see one of his tournaments (and my mom also wants to head to WI while we're that way).

xd McMansions.

ummm, i think thats like an hour from here or something xD i really have no clue *isnt from the area*

are you going to be around during the cons or anything special, it would be fun to meet up xD

yes, McMansions with their McSUVs and McSoccer Moms and all the other things massed produced in this country ><

I dunno. I've never actually have never been to a con, so I don't really know where they are or at about what time they are. I only vaguely know when I should be headed up there. xd I would definitely try to talk my parents into letting me go to one though, if there was one in the area at the time. 3nodding

Ah yes, modern day suburbia, gotta hate it xd

Woah, just got back after a couple weeks and this thread moved super fast, rofl. I can't do math though apparently says some people. . .XD

I'm not trying to restart and arguement, but I just have to say that It's kind of odd...because I see this thread a lot, the debate about Mana, and it's just like those "Japan vs. American, which is better?" or whatever threads because no one wins and it just upsets people.

I wonder why though, because I never hear huge debates over Kana, Nana Kitade, or whoever else...eh, I guess they aren't as popular.

It's probably because they don't have their own fashion labels ^_~.

Naw, just kidding. It's because of Mana's huge reputation as a Lolita fashion leader (this is disputable, obviously). If Nana Kitade or Kana or anyone else had done that, they would be the subject of just such a thread from people like me, who secretly want to make fun of everything.

Kana actually gets ripped into a lot, from what I've seen.
Mostly for her ... ahem ... singing and more "interesting" photo shoots. Personally, I've never seen much appeal to her aside from her sort of artsy-fartsy, pretty photos. I'd never wear the things she models [oddly enough, I feel much the same was about Mana; the clothes, hair and make-up work for photo shoots and artistic ... ness ... but have little to no real-world application for me] but they're nice to look at. Y'know?

And Nana Kitade? Eh. I think it's mostly because people aren't as familiar with her. Does she actually model, or just sing? The photos I see of her are always from performances, and she only recently had a tour [wasn't it a year ago?] with Tofu records visiting US cons, and I don't think she's actually made it to Europe yet [if she has, feel free to correct me, I heard nothing of it] so a lot of people outside of Japan aren't too knowledgeable about her.

Well of the other people you mentioned, Mana seems to be the only one who has his "Lolita validity" questioned. It's not an argument over who is better or anything like that. It's more regarding Mana's status as a Lolita, and his role in the popularizing of Lolita.

Nana Kitade does model, I believe she's been in Gothic Lolita Bible a few times too, although I might have to check up on that.

Well...I think Kana does indeed have a clothing line...but I think like 10 people know about it in the whole world. Eh, same on this, I really don't know if that's true. I heard some people rambling on about something like that. razz

But yeah, she models undergarments and stuff so I understand the "interesting-ness" there, rofl! And her dresses show cleavage, but whatever...she decides what she wears. I mean, she could be called non-lolita just for so much skin shown. XD

I heart Kana AND her clothing style even if, I must admit, it does not always correspond to the Lolita standarts. Let's say I would wear her stuff if it was a little more covering 3nodding .
I like the way she wears underwears; she is half-naked (almost like trendy fashion xd ), but she looks so cute and innocent! whee

-C'est la lune qui conduit la danse...-

Most of the time when I see Kana, I see her more in the 'ero-lolita' look, or just looking straight-up like a cotton candy with her overload of tulle.

I like Nana Kitade much better, because she does Punk Lolita the way I would probably do it if I was to wear it.
