Maybe within the learning Japanese subforum, we can just add another subforum that a "ask any question" forum. If the question is simple "what is cat in japanese" it can be answered, and we can move on. If it's a larger topic, like te-form, or i and na-adjectives, maybe they can eventually be stickied? Is that what you're thinking?
This seems like a good idea.
smile But, based on my own personal observations, a forum that contain stickies (or too many of it) reduces the amount of activity for that forum. For instance, suppose there's a question that a person has but realizes it's already on a stickied topic, so that person might not feel compelled as much to ask his/her question. Thus, no post was made. Now suppose there are ten people with the same question, but only two still remained unsure, so they go ahead and submit their posts. Yes, two people have posted, but eight have declined to do this. And you can see how this exponentially grows. Next thing you know, the forum appears to be dead with only a few post submissions that pop up every now and then.
I'm not insinuating that this guild is dead or anything, but it is just something that I've noticed on all community forums that I go to (not just GaiaOnline).
Sorry for the long post, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that certain topics should be stickied, but I think for it's okay if people tend to repeat questions. It just goes to show that there is still some activity going on, and frankly, I'd rather have this than a quiet board.
