.: History of Udell :.

Ages ago, before the Elves built their civilization...

...terrible beings shaped the earth, controling each region of the world with an iron grip. The people of the world worshipped them as gods, making sacrifices of even their young to satiate these being's terrible wrath, but one woman defied them, choosing to die rather than sacrifice her child. Against one of these beasts that blackened the sky with its magnitute, she stood, a pale shoot under the tremendous shadow, alone, but her boldness would make all this change as her people began to join her in this rebellion against the gods of old. A battle errupted, leaving innumerable slain from the woman's people, but among them lay the terrible beast, wounded beyond the ability to move. The sages of that tribe bound the creature within a gem and sealed it deep within the mountain. Tragically, that woman died in the battle, saving her child from a cascade of rock; in memory of her bravery, this world was named after her, Udell. For months they mourned her with bitter wailing that echoed throughout the entire continent; these tears swiftly turned to rage, a battle cry against those earth movers. Each beast resisted, but each one fell, sealed within a different gem. These were the people of Fiachra, and they defended those gems until the final dilapidation of their society. None know where they are now hidden, lost in the sands of time...

Recently...

Every nation has reached equilibrium, forging a fairly strong peace. The last war between nations, Aine and Dunmore, was well over a century ago. Sure, not every group thinks like-mindedly, feeling that war is preferable over the tedious peace or that this continent is rightfully theirs. Bands of mercinaries and theives from every nation roam the lands in search of convoys and caravans and bands of creatures of a less than savory nature, orcs, trolls, dark elves, and others, search out weak villages and nations to strike. But all of them are of no great concern. However, it is rumored that Adoranth is now openly seeking those six gems to power a weapon beyond imagination. Some nations oppose their venture, but none have declared war, too afraid of their vast armies and advanced technology.

.: Setting :.

A caravan travels slowly along the border of the Norther Wastes and Balfour, heading slowly towards Aine. Most are carts filled with produce for their ally, but some are carrying other products in the hope to trade them. The Elves have been sending troops to guard these convoys along the paths lately, fearing an attack, but they are really the only defense, save for a few poorly armed farmers and blacksmiths. Aine has been expecting a raid from a faction of the Draconic and and Dwarves, but nothing has occured on the last five trips. What these Elves do not know is that one of the carts that they are protecting carries one of the six gems found in the ruins of a Fiachran outpost located in Balfour. The three traveling with that cart are from Adoranth, hoping to use this caravan as a way to gain passage through Aine. But none of them know that a band of rouges is about to strike.

What group are you in? What are your intentions? What will happen next? Will a band form from these races? Will Adoranth power the weapon with all six gems and rule all other races? Well...don't look at me...it's your story.

Basic Thread Rules

oo1 I am not god…
I am not God, all glory and honor be to the holy one, nor do I wish to be. This is your story; write it the way you so choose. You are the authors; I am simply the chief editor for your book.

oo2 On Love…
In the Greek understanding of love, there are five distinct words: Eros (Pertaining to romantic love, to a sexual end), Philia (love between friends, family…better translated as friendship or self-sacrificing), Agape (broadest meaning, ranging from a love for a meal to holding someone in high regard.), Sorge (a natural affection like that of a parent for their children), and Thelema (a desire to do or be something). In this RP, every one of these forms of love is expectable. With that said, keep Eros at a minimum for one reason: I do not really like to read through a hand full of love stories going on simultaneously…just makes me a little sick. Also, do not go as far as cybering. Take that to messages if you need to...but really...don't need to.

oo3 General Rules…
And now it’s time for everyone’s favorite list of generic rules I am obligated to give.
- must remain semi-literate to literate at all times. I understand writer’s block from time to time and that not all posts require two - three paragraphs, but please, try to keep your sentences per post above five at all times. If you are constantly posting at five...you may get the axe. I want depth in my posts. Oh…and this goes without saying…NO chat Speak. Also, keep text size to 9 or ten...makes things look cleaner.
- no godmodding or auto hits. This rule is not set in stone because villains do have a right to be ruthless, but this is the only current exception.
- violence and swearing…are completely fine. If you want to be graphic, fine by me, but keep everything in context. If you are a squeaky clean character, you should not swear up a storm for no reason whatsoever.
- use (()) or {{}} or [[]] for OOC. Do not use ** for actions. Use quotations for what you say and italics for what you are thinking.
- PM all profiles to either me or the Moderators (which will come in later) with the title "Udell".
- there are no perfect characters. There will be no masters of all trades. Everyone has a weakness. Also, make your actions consistent with the character. I know personalities do change, but it should not be an over night event. Also, try to be as original as possible with your characters (no john or jane smiths).
- this is a long term RP so remain active. Eight posts a week is the minimum expected number…though vacations or absences are understandable, and I do understand that school is now in session. Just send a PM to me if you will be inactive for any period of time. If you do become inactive...bad things can and will occur to your character.
- I do not require that you put a silly symbol that states you have read this…though I expect you to have read it…fully.
- Gaia rules apply
- Guild rules apply
- For new races, send me a message.
- I reserve the right to add additional rules.
- Use Olive when it is the action or spoken part of an NPC. Yes, I do expect you to play as more than your own character.

Kingdoms, Regions, and Races
Map on the way...within the next 2 days

oo4 Kingdoms

Adoranth is the strongest of the sovereign nations in all of Udell. With its high degree of Industrial and Mechanical dependency, technological wonders (Such as trains and airships) are an every day sights. It has a tendency towards an expansionist, imperial mentality, though currently disguised by international politics and trade. Yet elderly advisors to the kings of every country whisper rumors of amassing troops along the borders of Adoranth. This vast nation controls everything south Fiachra and west of the river Ambrose. Humes are the greatest population of this land.

Aine still remains as the nation of the elves, as it has since the earliest recorded history. Made up of the two northern forests, Myrna and Nairn, it has lost much of its territory due to deforestation and the attacks of Adoranth on the southern woods. Because of this, they now zealously defend their lands against all invaders, becoming completely isolated from all lands but Balfour to the west. They value the arts and activities of skill or specialization (Making brilliant archers, swordsmen, researchers, and mages)

Dunmore has and will never change, unable to expand farther than the Cayden Mountains will allow. Here lives the Draconic, a hybrid race of dragon kind and elves, and the Dwarves, the greatest of all metal craftsmen and the heartiest of beings. The cities in this region exist on the pinnacles of the mountains of inaccessible valleys. Only those that take the dwarven mines and tunnels or are able to fly can reach them. This land values honor and combat above all else, using brutal, utilitarian weapons and armor in combat.

oo5 Regions

Fiachra was the eldest of the civilizations, reaching its pinnacle before Aine became a nation. Its location was chosen strategically One the easiest pass through the Cayden Mountains, allowing for only two entrances to the capitol, The Dugal Pass to the west and the Cian Pass to the east. They were advanced even by today’s standards in the fields of technology and magic, but they slowly began to wane, worshiping their dead more than living their own lives. Soon its capitol was a shrine to the dead, a necropolis beyond all others, and both passes were nothing more than graveyards as far as the eye could see. It is thought that a disease wiped out the remaining population, but the elves sent to the necropolis in hopes of finding that advanced technology say that forms of men walk among the tombs and constant unnatural fog. Ruins of this civilization can be found in all corners of Udell, but the language has yet to be decoded due to its extreme complexity.

Balfour is by far the most peaceful region, simply ignored by the three great nations. It enjoys a calm, quiet, agrarian existence, having no true army, only a small militia. Some hunters roam the southern regions, past the most fertile areas within this region, but there are very few trophy beast left. Most of the economy is based on raising and training horses and the trading of fresh produce. It is one of the most tolerant and diverse regions, having almost every race within its borders.

The Azir Sand-sea Is a desolate place, filled with endless dunes of sand and biting winds. Little water exists here, except during the one month rainy season. Sixteen distinct tribes roam this land as nomadic herders, chasing either small herds of prey or their own domesticated animals. These tribes have adapted, becoming resistent to the winds and heat, becoming shorter and more slender, valuing speed over physical strength.

The Northern wastes are a desolate, treeless tundra stretching from the northern borders of Balfour and Aine to the coast. Some dwarves and men reside here in scattered villages, hunting, trapping, or mining the mineral deposits for their lively hood. Glaciers cover the northern most regions; little exists there except for an ancient monastery in the mountains. Few know its exact location.

The Southern downs are uninhabitable by most races due to the poisonous fumes hovering over the ground, acid rains, and tainted water. Not much is known about this region except that a tower stretches high into the clouds with the same architectural style as that of Fiachra.

______________________________________________

oo6 Common Sentient Races
This is an exhaustive list of races that are seen on a regular bases in most cities.

Humes: yeah you guessed it, the human equivalent. They can be found in ever nation but Dunmore and every region save for Fiachra. They are the broadest of the groups, having no fixed specialty in combat style. Those things only depend on region and knowledge base.

Elves: By far the most creative and artistic of the beings, they tend to stay to themselves, despising all other races, especially those carry a portion of their blood, being half elves or the Draconic. In skilled techniques, specifically magic and other forms of ranged combat, they are excellent, but they refuse to or are incapable of using more brutal/heavy weapons. It is not uncommon for them to live centuries, since they are a very long-lived race, but the aging process only slows when they reach their mid to late twenties. They grow to be around 6’ at the maximum.

Dwarves: Are the heartiest of the beings yet trapped on the ground, capable of carrying two to three times their own weight. In magic, they only use brutal offensive attacks; much in the same way they like their weapons. Renowned for their valor in combat, they are truly more concerned with wealth, mining of searching for resources most of the time. At the maximum they can grow to be 5’, but most only reach 4’ 5”. They hate elves with a fiery passion.

Draconic: A hybrid race of Elven and Dragon-kind, these beings inhabit the mountain ranges, using the highest terrain as their chief advantage in combat, for this is a warrior race. There is no set form of a draconic, because they vary greatly, depending on how pure their blood is. Those closer to dragon-kind reach vary near to 9’ and are covered in scales, sporting massive wings, but those of more Elven descent are far fairer, just seeming like tall elves. They still have wings but are most likely vestigial in nature. However, every Draconic is extremely strong for their size and have very short tempers. They have no magic potential. They hate elves with a fiery passion.

oo7 Uncommon Sentient Races
- This is not an exhaustive list, any additional race will be placed in this section… many nearly extinct or living in secluded regions. So if you wish to add aditional species, send me a post with its name and characteristics.

Spectres: These are the remnant of Fiachra, still living much as they have since the beginning. Not much is known about them except that they seem to wander the other lands, passing through highly defended areas at will. That is why they have received that title. Whenever confronted, they either vanish or eviscerate those who oppose them with strange forms of magic and technology. It has been noted that they have an innate resistance to magic and a compete immunity to poisons (possibly due to their environment), but they are very sickly and frail, having little physical prowess. The vast majority still remains in the necropolis and surrounding regions, sending less than one percent to wander.

The Azir: information on them is very limited by the temperatures and vastness of the sand-sea itself. It seems that everything really depends on what location of the sea they are from. However, they are generally called Azir by anyone who meets one.

Weapons and Armor + Skills and Magic.

oo8 Weapons and Armor
...ah, the defining items for almost every hero, but not ever single one has to be a massive European swordsman with thick armor from head to toe or a roaming samurai wearing nothing but a robe. I think we all know that any team needs a balance of sorts, ranging from the swordsmen to the mage class, breastplates to gauntlets. Also, not every weapon needs to be serious, in fact I want some quirky and unique weapons and armor. Take a look at some of the weapons from console and PC RPG's. Weapons range from trumpets to Key Blades, Exploding eggs to three barreled revolvers, and armors contain things like belts, hats, boots, or even jewelry. So please, let's not all use the stereotypical weapons and armor, but with that said, I know we need a few of them. These items will change as you progress, acquiring new, more powerful items that may even contain effects like poison resistance or modifying you weapons with things you acquire along the way (Such as an archer can gain more power by picking up different arrow, different tips, or a different bow). Just try to keep the team balanced and varied. Also, no ultimate weapons at the start; keep them basic so that your character can become stronger as the RP progresses. Don't double up on weapons.

oo9 Skills and Magic
...but is it really the weapons that make a hero a legend or is it what they can do with them? A wizard is nothing without his magic, and every warrior worth his salt has a skill that only he can use. So, in this RP, each character will start with two abilities, nothing too strong. Also, each character will have a specific item that allows them to level up those skills or gain additional ones. These items should be rather rare. Also, characters can teach their skill to other, but that does not mean that they will be as good as the teacher.

Along with these basic techniques are union techniques...like the name suggests, it is a combination of two or more techniques. Example: thunder combined with a blade attack creates thunder blade. You get the point.

PM these weapons, armors, and skills to me in a separate post from the profile.

Yeah, this will fill up later.

.: White List
I'd love to fill this up, but I'll live if I don't.

.: Grey List :.

This means you are walking the line to being banned. Reasons are most likely due to a lack of literacy on your part.

Black List :.

I'd really hate to fill this, but I will if I must.

Think of it as...sparknotes for the lazy RPer. I will try to add to this whenever something amazing happens, the plot changes, or when the next week rolls around.
