Kayuapi was flowing with tears in her eyes, as she raced back to her den, where her mother and father lived. As she padded to the entrance, she folded her ears back. Her eyes were blood red from all the crying she had done. She looked down at the ground, and sighed. "Daddy, are you here? ... I need to ask you a few questions ..."
She entered the sandy den, and saw a silhouette. A frown stayed on her maw as she came over the Naraka.

Having been reclined from a short cat-nap, the large firekin blinked suddenly as a voice echoed in the den, before lifting his head up with a large yawn. Shaking the sands out of his mane, he stood up to his full height before slumping down slightly, relaxed and fatigued as he gazed down at the young form before him.
"Kayupi, what is it you-" He stilled suddenly as his blood-red eyes took in her own disheveled form, sniffing slightly and catching the scent of her tears, "Are you alright?"

"... is there something wrong with me, daddy?" She came closer to Naraka, tears dripping from her soft cheeks. Api looked into the male's eyes, her ears folded back. "The other cubs said ... I was a slave. They said that ... I didn't have the right pelt colour." She sniffled, and threw herself into his shoulder, to cry on him.
"Is ... brown a bad colour?" She just, couldn't comprehend why her colour was such a bad thing to have. She thought it was pretty.

He was at a loss of words from the questions she asked, and the actions she went through. Swallowing slightly, he closed his eyes a moment and tried to calculate his words carefully, a trait from his past he unknowingly still held.
"Brown is a beautiful color..." He said with a strong voice, and nudged her away from his mane, "Now please, you must stop crying, crying is a sign that these...cubs really got to you. And from what you are telling me, they are just being ignorant. Your pelt came from your mother and I, and we aren't slaves, are we?"
He asked with a lopsided grin hiding his grimace. How he wished Moto were here instead.

"But, daddy! ... They said that Kimeti will banish me because i'm the wrong colour! ... would, the King ... really do that?" She sunk back into his mane, ignoring his words. They had gotten to her. She tried to act all tough, but ... the little white and black cubs had gotten to her. What made white and black better colours than brown? Brown was closer to fire than both of those colours combined.
She looked up, her eyes blood red. "... no, your ... not slaves."

He let out another sigh, giving in to her need to curl close as he closed his eyes and relaxed.
"I don't know, it would be best to ask your mother all about the king of these lands..." He murmured softly, "But I can tell you this, if he tried to ever kick you out of your home, I would put up a fight even if it meant I would be kicked out as well..."
Smiling, he figured that was a good enough answer, "We aren't slaved so you aren't a slave!" He nodded at that, eyes opening and his grin widening.
