This man claims to have once caught a Leprechaun and kept him in his house. Now these aren't the Leprechauns from "Top o' the mornin' to ya'!" Ireland but the fairies, or the Sidhe, from Irish folklore and mythology. Not to be messed with.

There are many old folk from Ireland who claim to have seen or come in contact with the Good People. I'm one of them, though not old. It is a shame how they have been demonized and made into cute fluffy things these days. If you lived three or four centuries ago or live in the Irish country side you'd know that they were not butter-fly-wings-twirl-me-wand-grant-you-a-wish-sugar-plum kind of things.

This video is short, but left me breathless and craving more.

Some say that it is bad luck to speak of an encounter. Basically you're not supposed to capture them and keep them against their will since they do not like that. (Who would?)

I remember an old story from a farmer man who claimed to have caught one of the Good People. He said he saw him on the road and thought he was a doll but it could move, when he caught it he said that it was dark skinned and wore old fashioned peasantry clothing.

He brought home to his wife and kept it in a cage during the day and when they went to bed they would open the cage and they could hear it going about through the house. They said during its time in the cage it would mutter in a strange language that was indistinct.*

It eventually escaped from the house and the man soon lost his sight. You should never anger them or else you'll suffer terribly.

* A common theme in the sightings of the People of Peace is that they always speak in a strange language that no one can understand. It sounds like there is more than one talking and it is very low. I have heard it many times during my experience. I mean you can't understand anything, it sounds kind of musical though... Like flutes and drums playing a very low beat with a sort of chant mixed in it. It is very unnerving.
