I'm allergic to latex. I used latex gloves once and my hands got red, blotchy, swollen. I'm currently single, and a virgin but I just want to know what type of condom would I use instead? What would a non-latex condom cost? And would the condom really effect me or am I being really paranoid about this?

You actually might not be allergic to latex, it could have been the powder in the gloves that you were allergic too as well, not necessarily the latex.
But to be safe i suppose you could just go to any wal-mart or something and get a...um...lambskin...condom...or something like that...at least with those their reusable a couple times, and im almost certain their not outrageously priced.
But maybe you should experiment? just get a regular condom and see what happens - you'd want to do that by yourself of course, just in case- wouldnt want it to be right in the middle of something or anything >_<

I thought of the lambskin too, I didn't know they were reusable. I don't know about experimenting. I'm not exactly going to feel comfortable going into a drug store to buy condoms, not until I'm ready at least. Maybe when the time comes though.

I have never before heard that lambskin condoms are reusable.
If you're thinking about having sex, there's also polyurethane condoms available. Don't be worried about being embarrassed or anything - I was plenty nervous the first time I bought condoms and I still don't like doing it. Just act natural and confident, remember they probably sell condoms all the time. It's not an issue for them and it shouldn't be for you. ^_^

Lambskin condoms are not reusable. Never reuse a condom, not matter what it is made of.

oh! im sorry! i thought they were but i wasnt positive and obviously i was wrong! so sorry about that... sweatdrop but yeah go ahead and try the polyurethane ones - personally though, i never believe the gloves, even if they say their powder free. they always feel all...powdery no matter what...and smell funny afterwwards ect....your hands that is....but yeah...play it safe i guess and use the polyurethane.
and you could always ask a friend for some if you were going to experiement - i think most teenagers usually have some with them. I always keep some on me and i know a lot of guys put them in their wallets - not the most recommendable thing but hey...or you could ask someone to buy them for you....but its ok, i was nervous at first too, but its one of those thigns that once you do it once or twice you realize its really no big deal *shrugs*
Good luck ^_^

Do you know if the polyurethane condoms are more expensive?

Unfortunately all non latex condoms are expensive.
I doubt it was the powder inside the gloves because all that is is baby powder without the scent and all it would have done is made your skin dry.
I suggest just going on BC. It's more reliable, you don't have to stop and fuss with condoms etc.
If you do not want to go those routes, you can always try a sponge and spermicide foam or gel mix. Sponge product
With the sponge - you can have it in for 24 hours - no fiddling right before sex unless you use it with a spermicide foam or mix.

Well I'll check on prices when the time comes, thanks for everyones help. One question, anyone know aprox how much the non latex condoms cost?

They also have a polyurithan(sp) condom. I have to use those myself b/c I'm allergic to latex as well. They're made by Trojon, and Lifestyles.
