Prompt 2
It's been a while since you could find good work. And without work and therefore money, it's hard to get food. Starving to death isn't particularly your favorite option, so you're growing more and more willing to do anything in order to survive. Just when you think your luck has run out, you're approached by a stranger (human or Pokemon). While this stranger gives you the creeps, you're desperate enough at this point to listen to what they have to say. Even with that devious glint in their eye. They tell you about this place called CRONUS that will give you all the food you can eat in addition to shelter if you just agree to work for them. You ask what kind of work this is, but you get a vague 'oh, they have all kinds of jobs available,' in reply. What do you do now?

((Dis is a response from the character I made in that concept contest waaaaaaay long ago. To sum her up, her name is Selvagem, and she came from a distant island where Pokemon and humans live in harmony together. Her father took her along to find job on the mainland, and ended up in Vermilion City. Both of them didn’t speak English very well, and got picked on a lot because of it. Selvagem’s father did find a job (a low paying one) but he contracted an illness and was bedridden. She took over the responsibility of supporting the family of two, working at an even lower paying job and caring for her father at the same time. Steadily, her father’s sickness worsened and Selvagem needed more money to support the medical bills. So this is where the second prompt comes in: ))

A young girl dressed in exotic clothes wandered down the streets of the city port, attracting stares from people that did not know her. Which was everybody that made up the crowd. Selvagem ignored the strange looks that she received; several weeks of living her made her immune to them. But she couldn’t get used to the loud and possibly rude whispers coming from the stranger’s mouths. It made her wonder if any precedent was established for people similar to her.

She shouldn’t be worried about that now. Scolding herself mentally for being distracted, Selvagem focused on what she came outside for. Why she left her father.

Straightening her robe, a wistful girl hoping for a job entered a shadowy building. She had called this place before, and through much struggle, arranged a meeting for the employer to see if she was suitable for the job.

Selvagem walked up to a counter, mocking confidence in her strides. If she didn’t get this job…

A fat man smoking a cigar turned around from his work to face her. He sucked on the end of cigar a bit before pulling it out with two fingers.

“Whaddya want?”

Clutching her robe tighter, Selvagem cleared her throat and spoke in quavering English.

“I… I’m here for job… I called yesterday…”

“Oh. It’s you.” The man stuck the cigar back into his mouth and grabbed a file filled with loose paper. Shuffling through it, or at least pretending to, he squeezed his eyes shut and slammed it onto the counter.

“Sorry honey. Job’s filled already.”

“What? You said-“

“First off, I didn’t say anything. You’d be talkin’ to someone else when you called this place.” He shoved the file to the side and leaned on the desk. The cigar in his mouth was close enough to Selvagem to cause her to politely cough. “And secondly, you’re just not the type of gal we’re looking for. We found someone better.”

Jabbing his thumb behind him, she could see in the distant another women doing something. It was too dim to figure out what it was exactly.

“Sorry hun. I reckon that there’ll be another job opening in a month or so.”

The fat man whirled around and busied himself with something before Selvagem could say a word. She blinked, trying not to cry, hoping this was some mistake.

The girl couldn’t understand. The man on the phone said that he would give her a chance to prove herself worthy. And yet, when she arrived here the next day, the chubby man refused to even talk about it much. It seemed as if he didn’t want her, regardless of her skills and abilities…

Tears streaming down her cheeks, Selvagem casted her look downward to the ground. She had failed her father. Where was she suppose to go now? No one else would want her after this rejection, and she seriously doubted that the reason why she’s desperately seeking a job would still be around in a month…

A single steady padding of feet. A contrast so different than the many scattered ones in a normal busy street. Selvagem sneaked a glace upward and gasped.

What surprised her was a lean and tall man, dressed in a black suit and a black hat. The suspicious outfit was complete with a pair of sunglasses that reflected the afternoon sunlight.

“Good day miss. May I have the privilege of knowing your name?”

Selvagem stammered, something that she regretted doing. It just killed her first impression.

“Sel-Selvagem. Selvagem Sulfolha.”

“A pretty name. Now, Miss Selvagem, have you ever heard of the CRONUS project?”

She shook her head wildly, knowing that the action killed her second impression.

“It’s an organization that specializes in improving the agricultural society and economy. Unfortunately, it is getting harder to find right people suited in… helping us.”

Selvagem was baffled by the long string of words the man sprouted out. Like what her father told her to do when not understanding what someone said, she nodded her head.

“Therefore, Miss Selvagem, I am here to offer you a job.”

She couldn’t believe it! Minutes ago, she was brooding on the fact that the life of her father was condemned because she couldn’t secure a job. Now, out of the blue, a mysterious man is offering her one!

“What job?” Selvagem asked in her best manners.

“Oh… we have all sorts of jobs. I’m sure one will be suited for you.”

It was difficult for her to keep herself from punching the air in excitement. This was too good to be true! Her father won’t be sick much longer!

“I need to know pay… Father is sick and need money…”

The man smiled and pushed his glasses up. “No worries, Miss Selvagem. We’ll be sure that you are paid enough to take care of your father.”

It seemed like the man had trouble saying the word father. But she didn’t dwell on it much. He was her and her father’s savior after all.

“Do you accept? You must decide now, you know.”

“Yes yes yes!” Selvagem practically screamed.

The man smiled, glancing down at his watch like he did at minute intervals.

“I was expecting you to say that. If you follow me now please…”
