Credited to being the father of crust punk, a style that blends hardcore punk and speed metal, Amebix first appeared as The Band With No Name in 1978. 1979, they changed their name and then released several excellent demos and EPs before creating their monumental albums, Arise! and Monolith. Like many punk bands their lyrics deal with problems in society, personal problems, and rebellion.

Anyone else dig this band? They have quickly become one of my top 10 favorites, their raw and destructive style as displayed in songs like Axeman and Battery Humans are overwhelming and powerful; then songs like Sunshine Ward, Drink And Be Merry, and Darkest Hour seem to reach out to me on a personal level. Truly a great band.
