••♥♥••So Toastie totally came online today and was all "wtfbbq?"
Why?
Because she went to click her GaiaArc link to the guild forum, and it said she was denied access. After freaking out for a second, trying two or three more times, and finally accessing the guild homepage, she saw the message to everyone.
Reaction?
WTF?!
Temp banning EVERYONE?! Have we really sunk so low, sniper game? Have we lost our senses so completely that the only way anyone can be punished at all is to punish everyone? Look at all of the innocent people who suffer just because you were too yellow-bellied to stand up and do anything without hiding behind a ******** mask.
The members of the GCDSG need a reality check.
You heard me you spoiled little brats. Toastie is a nice person. Toastie rarely gets angry with people unless she has to, but right now? Toastie is pissed.
Stop hiding behind your little masks and admit to the things you do. Stop harassing people simply because you think you can. Do you think you're better than them? You're not. And please, for the love of god,
THINK
before you act. People aren't always exactly who they seem to be. That gaian you just harassed could be chronically depressed. They could be contemplating suicide and so close to the edge that you just push them right over it. You could be responsible for someone's death.
And yea, i know, anyone who takes to heart what a perfect stranger says to them on the internet may "deserve" to die in your opinion, but you don't know them. You don't know who they are offline, and you don't know their life story. You could unknowingly harass them about a sensitive problem they've been dealing with their entire life, you could just catch them on the worst week they've ever experienced and end up being that little extra push over the edge that they needed to confirm to themselves that they're worthless.
Think about it.
Do you really want to find out that you were responsible for something like that?
And yea, maybe the chances of that happening are slim. But the chances of a school bully causing debilitating mental disabilities, or pushing someone into suicide are just as slim. Yet it happens almost every day somewhere around the world.
So Toastie challenges you, sniper gamers. She challenges you harassers to stand up and admit to your short-comings. To admit to the things you've done to your fellow GCDSGers. She challenges you to come clean, and start the next chapter in the sniper game. A chapter without harassment, without mules and masks and anonymous misdeeds causing people pain and hardship.
Toastie challenges you to be a better person online and to keep your comments to yourself when you dislike someone or something. Like the saying goes: if you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all.
AndWOW this turned into a rant... Toastie's going to go play some video games for the rest of the night. Please come to your senses, guys. Wallflower...

Let's say I'm a bad person (lol, irony). What's the point of me coming clean and saying I did something? I'll get banned forever from the guild. And besides, I probably only did the harrassing knowing I'd get a response out of it. I mean, I did it for laughs at the other person's expense - just like bullying. And you know what? I win. There's no losing doing it through gift snipes or a mule. I can't get banne,d nobody knows who I am. And I can still play cool on my normal account and laugh at the victim's expense. So why should I bother giving myself up? To humor you? Sorry. Not gonna happen. And, so what if it's someone's bad day. It shouldn't be anyone else's responsibility to keep up on who has a good day and a bad day. Sure, we could all just be nice all the time, but this ain't a perfect world, is it? The entire guild got banned. That's saying something to me. It's saying "We found a way to get to you; we found a way to ban you. We don't know who you are, but you're banned now, along with everyone else." Now, people who know what I've done and are friends with me can no longer keep a secret; they'll be mad at me since they can't play the game any more. I will be pressured to stop harrassing people. Witht he entire guild banned, I can't play the game any more. And I like the game. I also can't have my anonymous fun. Because if it's outside the sniper guild, I have the real gaia mods to deal with, and they aren't so forgiving. This massive guild banning is good. And if the crew/nymphie keeps up with it, watch harrassment drop to an all-time low.

••♥♥••The point of you coming clean is that in most cases you won't get banned forever from the guild. You'll get a warning, probably a temp ban, but unless you did something amazingly bad like hack someone, you'll probably not be banned entirely.
And to your second point, that's the exact reason why the GCDSG needs to get a reality check. Bullying. Yea, we've all heard the boring seminars and had to do the class projects on it, but the fact of the matter is that it's still out there. And it messes people up.
Take Toastie. Normal, happy child right? Not really. Bullied all through elementary school, and now she's having relationship problems because she keeps questioning whether or not she's good enough for her significant other. Confusing her boyfriends to no end because she doesn't see in herself what they see in her.
People in the GCDSG are doing this to other people. There are people of all ages on gaia. From 13 right up until their 20's, and we have a variety of those people right here in the guild. People could be ruining lives and causing the need for therapy and they wouldn't even know it.
Also, if the harassers and mule owners won't admit who they are to Nymphie and the crew, what makes you think they'll admit it to their friends? Would you want to be known as a drama-llama to the people you know online? What makes you so sure that they're proud of what they've done enough that they'll want to brag to their friends? I'm not saying they'd brag about it to their friends, but maybe their friends know they did it. Now, if the harasser got banned, the friend can go "lol, look's like your funtime's up." But if the guild gets banned, people who know the harrasser may contact the harrasser and go "WTF! Don't ever harrass again, 'cause now I have to pay for YOUR mistake!" And admitting to the guilt still gets them int rouble, while staying secretive get's them off scott-free. They know we can't do anything about them, to stop them. The only reason to come out would be to humor themselves or cause drama to get a reaction. I'm going to take it you've never trolled or played a practical joke on someone. Youd on't do it just to spite the person (usually). You do it to laugh at their reaction to whatever it is you did. And I understand about the emotional problems. Really, I do. But like I said, the whole world shouldn't be the emotion police. If you have a bad day, it's not the world's job to make it better for you.

••♥♥••Their friends may suspect them, but the chance of them telling their friends is slim. The sniper game thrives on fake relationships, backstabbing your friends, and generally being underhanded and ruthless to win. GCDSGers aren't going to trust their friends with something like that very readily unless they're 100% positive that they're not going to tell anyone.
And in a perfect world, they would feel guilty for what they've done and fess up simply because they know they're injuring many people who want to play the game. Of course this isn't a perfect world, so it'll probably never happen. And we'll have these rat finks among our ranks until the end of our days. But they deserve to have their names associated with their respective drama. Think of it like that book, the Scarlet Letter, where Hester wears a scarlet A to profess her sin of adultery to the world.
Toastie doesn't troll. And the only kind of practical jokes that are good are the kind that are funny and innocent. Like screwing the lid off of the salt shaker.
The whole world shouldn't be the emotion police. No, it isn't their job to make it better for you, but it also isn't their job to make it worse. People need to think about how they would like to be treated if they were in the other person's shoes, and then treat that person that way. Wallflower...

As Q said about doing it to laugh (Or, for the "lulz" as you hackers on steroids say.) if I were to do something I would want to tell people so they could laugh at it too. Sure I'd only pick people to tell who WOULD laugh at it, but I'd still tell people. Laughing by yourself isn't much fun at all.

••♥♥••Toastie just doesn't know. Sure, some of them may have been done for the Lulz, but a lot of the time i think it's done because someone is pissed off at someone for one reason or another and is keeping silent about it.
Toastie just doesn't think that the majority of those responsible are going to tell anyone, and a few i'm sure won't even care. It would be a bigger deal perhaps if this were in the middle of a game. But right now, as it stands, no one is playing a game anyway. We'd just be setting up GM elections otherwise. And, knowing that those are coming, it gives people a chance to start writing their submissions early. Wallflower...
