***** Yume gasped for air as the hot sun beat down on him. Blood dripped and dried down his face and his body. His blue hakama was now ripped in many places and stained almost completely red. In his hands he held three items. His left hand clasped tightly onto the grip of a long sword. In his right hand was a large tooth. And crumpled between the fingers of his right hand was a small piece of paper, kept clean of blood to the best of his abilities. What exactly had happened to this Teyco? That was a story for another time. He stubbed his toe on something hard, cursing under his breath. Through his blurry vision he saw that it was the steps leading towards the front door of the house he had been searching for. It was everything his mum had said it was. The place was huge. He couldn't even bare to look up at it. With much effort he climbed up the three small steps, out of breath when he reached the door. He gave a weak knock, hoping to god that someone could hear it. He was starting to feel dizzy. After a short moment, the door opened. Yume could make out a blonde figure standing before him. He couldn't make out the expression on this person's face, but they seemed frozen. Surprised. What was wrong with them? Was it him? Without another thought, Yume collapsed. He felt the arms of the blonde figure wrap around him, stopping him from hitting the floor. "Yume?!" It was the last thing he heard before everything went black. Ephemeral quickly dragged Yume into the closest room--the livingroom--where Ankh was looking after Seth. They were quite surprised at the sight, to say the least. "Ankh! Take Seth to his room! He doesn't need to see this! Then bring me the bandages and help me out!" Ankh, his blank expression returning, nodded and threw the young ToR infant onto his back. While being trotted up to his room, Seth stared wide-eyed at the bloody figure on the couch. Too cool.. Ephemeral ran to the bathroom and clumsily filled a bucket with warm water, soaking herself in the process. She grabbed a large pile of wash-cloths and ran back out to the livingroom, slipping sevral times. She knelt down beside the couch and gently began wiping away the dry blood that stuck to the poor Teyco's fur. This was impossible. Yume stirred and opened his eyes, looking down to see Eph-ette wiping him clean of blood. He smiled and gave a small laugh. "Auntie Eph-ette...I made it....made it home..." he said, passing Ephemeral the crumpled piece of paper. Ephemeral took it and hushed the poor monkey Teyco. "Now isn't the time for you to be doing much of anything. Just try to sleep if you can." She smiled as, without another word, Yume rested his head back and instantly fell asleep. Getting to her feet, Ephemeral uncrumpled the paper and read over it carefully. Quote: Dearest Yume, The last I saw of you, you were leaving home to risk life and limb for Kaitorishi. I wonder now if you have found him, though I shall never know. By the time you read this, I will be gone. I cannot tell you the reason why, but rest assured that it had nothing to do with you. If I could have, I would have at least waited for your return. I'm sorry I couldn't see you one last time. I am also sorry about the state that I had left our family in. Yume, if Sitka ever returns, please take good care of him. Under normal cercumstances I would allow you to live in our old home on your own, but I'm afraid I need you to search out Auntie Eph-ette. You will be staying with her. Again, a reason cannot be given. Sometimes trust between family members means never having to give a reason. I love you Yume. Stay safe. --Kimu DeRomanus Ephemeral remained silent as she folded the paper a couple of times and shoved it into her pocket. She swallowed hard. Kimu...was gone...and it looked like Yume was now a perminant residant of Style Manor... She turned towards Yume and took a deep breath before kneeling back down to gnetly clean off Yume's wounds, eventually being joined by Ankh. She would have to be strong now...for Yume's sake... *****

***** Yume huffed and set his glass down gently, flipping his hair out of his face as he looked up at Ephemeral. "You keep asking me to tell you this story. All the time it's just 'what happened to you out there?' 'what is that horn?' 'Who is kaitorishi?' 'Where did you get that sword?' Why don't you just but out?! Maybe I don't want to tell you, okay?! You're not family! What makes you think you deserve to know any of this?! Besides, it isn't like I'll be here for long! Once mum comes back, I'm outta here!" "Yume, I-" "No! Just forget it! I'm going out. Don't call me back for supper. I'll get it somewhere else!" With that, Yume stormed out of the kitchen. It was only a short moment of silence after that Ephemeral flinched as she heard the front door slam shut. "Not family..." She said, repeating the monkey Teyco's words. She was family. Her and Kimu were like sisters. -- Like sisters. Ephemeral set her head down on the counter as the tears began to form in her eyes. Why had Yume gotten so angry? She cared for him. She only wanted to know what had happened to him. Isn't that what any caretaker would do? Worry? Looking up from her tears, Ephemeral was very surprised to see the wolf boy, Neji, placing a hand on her shoulder. "What are you sobbing about?" He asked, his face remaining as stern as always. Ephemeral held back more tears. Neji always sounded so harsh, and it didn't help very much, but it was quite a surprise that he was even talking to her. "Yume...He.." Ephemeral just could seem to get the words out. Neji seemed to understand right away, having probably heard the argument from somewhere in the house anyway. He pulled a seat up beside Ephemeral, his hand remaining on her shoulder. "This may be hard for you, but try to understand. Not only has Yume been through something that none of us know of, but he comes back to see that he's lost his mother. He doesn't know if she is alive or dead, safe or in terrible danger. The only thing that keeps him going each day is the thought that she will come back. You need to understand what this is putting him through. "He has a point when he says you aren't family. You could never replace his mother, and it's going to take him a long time to get used to you. "Not only this, but he has been gone for some time. There are probably a lot of things that he left behind before, and now his life is in tatters. He probably has lost a lot of connection with the others of his own kind." Ephemeral sniffed and dried her tears. Everything he said was so true. It figures it would take someone that never spoke to her to make her understand. She gave Neji a small nod of her head and watched him get up from his seat to leave the room. "Thank you..." She managed before he was gone. He turned to give her a smile and left. Ephemeral took a deep breath. It was going to be hard to care for this Teyco, but it was a good thing she had the rest of her family to help. Looking out the window, she wondered where the teen teyco was now... *****

Yume and Eros. Ephemeral Style Yume walked along sluggishly, his anger having subsided, only to be replaced with a mild depression that was really dragging him down. The cold light of the moon shone down on him. Despite what he had said to Ephette, it seems he did not find somewhere else to have supper.
He put a hand to his stomach as he heard it growl. This wasn't much fun at all. Maybe he shouldn't have gotten so angry at Auntie Ephette. She was only trying to help. If only she would stop asking him questions about what happened to him. It was really none of her buisness. It was family buisness! And she was not family! Why did she have to butt in to everything?!
In his rage, Yume used his telekanesis to pick up a stray apple on the ground infront of him, tossing it aside with quite a bit of force.
SMASH!
Yume's ears perked up and he snapped his head in the direction the apple had gone to see that it had just gone right through someone's window. "Oh crap..!" He ran as quickly as he could to the door of the house and knocked frantically. Crap. Crap. Crap! He thought to himself as he waited eagerly for an answer. Rayne Winner Eros caught the sound of the 'smash' then turn just in time to get peg in the chest with an apple. He gave a little, surprised 'squeak' and lifted his hand to rub at his chest when it had hit, "Owwie." He murmured then turned the way of the front door when there was a sudden, frantic knocking.
"Coming!" He called then hurried for the door, he would pick up the glass after he answered it, "Ah? Hello? Oh! Hello Yume." he greeted the other Teyco, well this was a surprise, he didn't even know that the other Teyco knew where he lived, "Come on in. I was just about to pick up some broken glass but if you give me a moment then I can visit."
The pink heart on his cheek shimmer a little with his happiness at getting such a nice surprise. Ephemeral Style Yume blinked as a familiar face answered the door. Just great. Not only had he smashed someone's window, but he knew this someone. Well...the pink boy didn't seem angry about it. Maybe it would be okay.
"Uhh...apple...yeah...about that...listen, I kinda....sorta...might have smashed that apple through your window-but it was an accident! Honest! And if you show me where it is I can fix it in a snap!" The last part of this had come out rushed, as Yume was getting a little nervous. It wasn't like he had many friends around him, he didn't want to lose one of the only ones by smashin his window. Rayne Winner Eros turned to look at Yume then gave a little laugh, "Its not a problem I promise. Nothing that can't be cleaned up and fixed right?" He said then listened as he said he could fix it himself. He seemed to think on it for a long moment then nodded his head, "Alright. But do be careful I wouldn't want for you to hurt your hands or anything like that."
He walked from the front door to the diningroom where the window was broken with glass on the floor near the table, "That was a heck of a throw if that was you that did it." He said, impressed. Ephemeral Style Yume followed the pink boy into what seemed to be his dining room. He gazed around a bit as he listed to the other Teyco's words. He was actually impressed with Yume's throw? He didn't seem at all angry about the window. Amazing. "Yeah...well...thanks, I guess.." Yume said with a little bit of a laugh as he dipped down to pick up the apple and examine the glass.
Good. It had not broken into too many small pieces, so this wasn't going to be very hard at all. He waved his hand slowly over the shards on the floor, back and forth a couple of times until they began to glow blue. As he lifted his hand the glass seemed to follow. Yume made a motion towards the broken window, and the shards glided over and fixed themselves into place, each in it's exact spot, until all the cracks dissapeared, and all that was left was a window.
Rising back to his feet, Yume tossed the apple up and caught it again as he admired his work. "That should do it." He said proudly. Rayne Winner Eros's eyes went huge at the display of power that he hadn't ever seen before, then went over to the window, looking it over then looked back over his shoulder at Yume, "Wow! Thank you, now I don't even have to clean it up." He said completely seeming to miss the point that it had been Yume who had broken the window in the first place. As it was it was fixed and nobody really had to know that it was broken in the first place right? Ephemeral Style Yume smiled, happy at Eros' overall reaction to everyhing that had happened. "Thanks! It was no problem at all. I brake it, I fix it, right?" He said with a bit of a laugh.
As soon as his mind thought of leaving, his stomach began to think other things. It let out a small grumble and a dull pain shot through it. Yume blushed slightly, putting a hand on his restless stomach. That's right...I havn't eaten all day... He thought to himself. Maybe Eros could help. It never hurt to ask.
"Eros...I was wondering..." The guilt was building already. Yume hated t ask favors of others. "The last time I saw you, you had some really good food with you. I havn't eaten today, and I'm quite a ways from home. Could I...eat supper here? I'd love to have more of your cooking." He ran a hand through his silky mop of red hair, and let out a nervous laugh. Rayne Winner Eros smiled and nodded his head, "Yes, yes of course. I was just making dinner actually before the apple distracted me. Nothing to fancy as its just made up for me but there is plenty. I'm used to feeding an army and its hard to make small portions." He told Yume then lead the way to the kitchen where a pot simmered on a burner, stew with all sorts of things in it and sitt cooling on the counter was some freshly baked bread, "I'm really getting the hang of cooking, have had a lot of time to practice as of late."
Lots and lots of time as he wasn't really going out all that much when he could avoid it.
"There is juice, milk, water, and tea in the fridge if you would like to pick out which one you would like." Ephemeral Style As Yume walked into the kitchen, he was almost much too destracted with the smell of the food to hear what Eros was saying. "Hmm? Oh! Thank you!" He said, finally tuning in as he willed his mouth not to water.
Looking around at the many cupboards, he chose one and opened it. Nope. not that one. He opened the one beside it. Bingo! He pulled out two glasses and gently set them down on the counter before hapily making his way to the fridge. Grabbing the juice for himself, he turned to Eros and asked "What would you like to drink?" Rayne Winner Eros reached up into another cabinet to retreive bowls and set them down on the counter before turning to regard Yume, "Mmm... I think Milk would be nice with this, thank you." He said then dished up two heaping bowls of soup, setting it aside to cool a bit then retreived a knife to cut the bread into slices, "If you could please, grab the butter as well while your in the fridge?" He asked as he did so. Ephemeral Style Yume nodded, a big smile plastered on his face as he reached for the milk and poured it into a glass. This was really cheering him up- taking his mind off of things. Eros was a really cool guy. He wished he would have gotten to know the pink boy better as an infant.
Putting the milk and the juice back in their respective places, Yume grabbed the buter and placed it on the counter before Eros. It was just like being at his new place. He always ended up helping Eph with the cooking.
Yume frowned. He was begining to feel really bad about storming off from Eph the way he did. He would go home right after supper to apologise.
Having decided that, Yume put a smile back on, awaiting Eros' next order, all the while the smell of the soup stirring up that childish impatience in him. Rayne Winner "Alright." He said, picking up the two bowls and brought them to the table, "If you want to bring in the drinks and sit." He said as he went back to fetch the butter and out of the cabinet some honey to put on the bread before bringing that to the table as well. It was nice to be able to have Yume here to share dinner with him, he had been thinking that he was going to be eating alone. Much better to eat with friends, better for digestion.
Or so he was told. Ephemeral Style Yume nodded and did as he was told, grabbing the drinks and heading for the table. He set the glass of milk down next to one bowl, and set the other next to the bowl that he chose as his own, taking a seat afterwards.
He waited for Eros to sit down before taking his spoon in hand and taking a small slurp of the soup. He thought for a moment, as if judging the soup. "Wow! Eros! This is great!" He said with a smile, taking another spoonfull of the soup.
Eros seemed to have a real knack for cooking. He hadn't had anything so good since he was home with his mum!
His mum. The fight with Eph. Everytime he pushed the thought away, it came bommerang-ing right back at him. He stirred his soup absently for a moment, his ears pressing back sadly. "Hey, I want you to know that it means a lot to me...you letting me stay here for supper. I had a bit of a tiff with my aunt, and left in kind of a hurry, so...just thought you should know. Thank you for this." He said with a bit of a forced smile. Rayne Winner Eros watched him eat, smiling and flushing happily at the compliment on the soup, "Do you really think so? Thank you." He said, quite happy. He would have to make this soup again then if it came out that well, "I'm very glad that you like it."
Eros tilted his head as Yume spoke and then he nodded, "Its no problem, I know how that sort of thing is and I want you to come on over any time that you think that you need so space or air." He told Yume, "It may not be as quiet as I have a lot of siblings though. Either way though your always welcome."
He rather liked the company, Yume was really nice and he didn't mind if he wanted to come over again, "Your allowed to come on when in a good mood too though. Anytime." He told him with a giggle and reached over to ruffle his hair gently. Ephemeral Style Yume smiled, even laughed as his hair was ruffled. He hadn't ever known anyone to be this nice to him. Everything was seeming a little better now. After he went home to apologize he would have to work harder on being tollerant with Eph's questions. At least it wasn't like she didn't care about him...
Taking another spoonful of the soup, Yume nodded happily. "I know a thing or two about siblings, though most of mine are older, and aren't really siblings, per-say, just a bunch of people around the house. They are noisey, though." He said with a bit of a laugh. "I've never seen anyone from your family, Eros. What are they like?" Rayne Winner "Thats easy. They are loud." He said with a laugh, "Its my family and soon to be my aunts family as well. We are all moving together into a bigger place and its gonna be great. So many people living together means that many more people that I can test receipes out on." He told him with a smile, "My Mom and my Aunt are adopting a baby, a little seahorse. Don't know if its a boy or a girl yet though." He took a bite of his soup, "I can't wait, I am the oldest and its been a while since there was a baby in the house, at least that I was here to see."
He smiled and looked over at Yume, "Maybe you would like to see the baby when its born? I can bring him or her to visit the Teyco sanctuary." He offered. He would be able to make baby food too! Ephemeral Style Yume smiled. "Wow, Eros! You really like to cook, don't you?" Which wasn't bad at all. He was really good at it.
As he finished off his soup, he nodded. "I would love to see the baby once it's born. I've always loved kids." He said with a chuckle.
Looking down at his empty bowl, Yume decided it would be most polite to wait for Eros to finish eating before he left. Besides, he hadn't even taken a drink of his juice, or even had a piece of bread.
Looking over at the bread, Yume smiled cheerfully as a piece slowly floated over to him, and he reached a hand out to grab it. Oh the fun of telekenesis. He began eating it as he always did- plain. He loved plain bread, and this bread was very good. "Did you make this too?" Rayne Winner He nodded his head, "I do like cooking, second to my obsession with all things magic but it seems that I was born with a total lack of any magical ability." He told his friend, "I found a loop hole in that via doing magics that involve components rather then apptitude."
He picked up his bowl and drank the last bit of broth in the bottom of it then set it down in front of him again, "Its basically the combination of cooking and magic and thus a lot of fun."
He stretched out then reached for his cup and drank from it before settling back in his chair contented with a full belly, "How did you learn the... floaty thing you do." He said referring to Yume's telekenesis. Ephemeral Style Yume listened as he finished off the bread, quite intrigued at the magic that Eros was speaking of.
His ear twitched slightly at the pink boy's question and he swallowed hard. Anything that reminded him of his mother usually jolted him a little. He cleared his throat. "My mother taught me Telekenesis when I was very little. She was very skilled in it, and I'm glad that I was able to learn." It cheered him up a little bit to be telling Eros a happy memory of his mum. Maybe he thought about too many of the bad things.
Clearing his throat again, he stood up from his chair and bowed his head in apologie. "I'm afraid I should get going, but maybe sometime...I could teach you Telekenesis, and you could teach me your magic." He said with a smile.
He picked up his bowl and glass, still smiling, implying that he could help Eros carry things back to the kitchen. Rayne Winner Eros nodded his head and rose to his feet gathering his things up and carried them to the kitchen with Yume, "Sounds like a lot of fun." He told him then turned and gave Yume a grin, "Though you can call ahead next time instead of tossing a rock through my window if you like." He said jokingly.
He set the dishes in the sink then went over to the fridge and got out a cheesecake that was sitting in there and he cut a large piece out and wrapped it up, "Here. You can take this with you for later." He told his friend holding it out to him. Ephemeral Style Yume set his dishes with Eros' in the sink. "Yeah, I suppose that would be the better choice." He said with a bit of a nervous laugh. He still felt quite a bit bad about having thrown the rock, even though he was able to fix it.
"Thanks! It looks great!" He said, smiling as he took the cake thatwas offered to him.
He gave a sigh as he headed for the front door. It was time to go back home and own up for storming out like that. He turned at the door to face Eros. "Thanks again, Eros. This really meant a lot to me." He said with a smile. "I'll see you again sometime soon!" And with that, he stepped out, closing the door behind him. Time for the venture home. Rayne Winner Eros watched him go then turned to start on the dishes, washing, drying, and putting them all away before he headed out of the room to get one of his magic receipes books to read over while he awaited the return of the rest of his family.
