The years women like us spend fighting against sexism is slashed by every slut in music videos, porn and the ditzy steriotype that is potrayed everywhere! I hate those people with a passion! Anyone who has a job where showing off their body and acting like that isn't a person in my eyes! (men included in this one, you too 50 cent)
it sounds like you hate the people we're fighting for... people are people and are allowed to make their own decisions about their bodies. many women feel that being a sex symbol is empowering.
Well, you can believe that these people are ignorant, that this ignorance is a vicious cycle and that they're a damaging influence on girls yet to see this stuff. Or that someone involved with this business should know better and put a stop to it. My BA is in communications, with a focus on TV. I learned all about the portrayal of women in the media and how it can be damaging and exploitative. It takes a producer, or ultimately, the "artists" themselves to say no, why don't we leave the half-naked decorations out of this video or off this album cover.
And luckily, there are a lot of musicians who *don't* do that garbage, even in the mainstream. I've never seen women in thongs in a Green Day video...
