One of my favourite things about Queen is the way they flesh out their songs or strip them down. It's not the same four-instrument combo in every single song, and some of them are pretty unique. i absolutely love the harpsichord in "The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke," and i love the way they use a gong at the end of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and at the beginning of "Tie Your Mother Down." John's upright bass in "'39" is a nifty extra, too. What are some other special musical features and tricks that Queen uses that you like?

We Will Rock You is a good example of that. They took out almost everything. razz But darn, I think my mind's blown from school... I can't think of anything else at the moment! xp

I love the harp at the end of Prophet's Song/beginning of Love of My Life. I just.. really love how Queen are capable of doing so many different things and being so unique. There has never been a band before them or since them that have been so amazing...to me anyway!

I love how they put so many layers into their songs. It's impossible to reproduce live, unless you have like a million voices singing at once. I also love how Freddie can sing the same line the exact same way over and over. It's so cool! I guess I just love their sound in general. blaugh

I rather like the mouth-trumpet, mouth-kazoo, and thimble-tap-shoes in "Seaside Rendexvous". If I spelled that wrong, shoot me. I'm blown from school, too. xd

You almost spelled rendezvous right. Just one letter off... but i can't shoot you. Mer-Freddie, on the other hand... she might still have it in her.

Another nifty thing about Queen's instrumentation is how easily it translates to other groups. i can't say enough good about the London Symphony Orchestra's wonderful recording of a bunch of Queen songs, even though their "Bohemian Rhapsody" is... lacking, to put it nicely. It sounds so right on the massive orchestra, just as their music sounds so right played by them.

I personally think the harp parts Brian May added to Love of My Life, perfectally complement a still beautiful song.
Timeless classic...
