General Info:

A small number of wolves have come from the North-West. Kalain, looking for redemption, Mu'sha wanting to make him come home, Jove, sent to protect them and Saturne, tagging along insistently like the spoiled brat she is. All drawn from the same pack but for different reasons they will set up home in this more southerly land and draw others to them. They seek to mimic their old pack in many ways - the structure and customs which they so dearly cherish.

The names, aves, from the latin for bird, signifies the pack's reverence for their feathered friends. They will not kill a bird nor in any way disturb them if they can - as they are not wolves natural prey this isn't too hard. They see them as messengers, harbingers and sometimes the words of the gods. They will choose a totemic bird, one of special meaning to their particular group, before the pack will be 'official' in their minds. For this pack it will be the eagle.

This pack has a strong spiritual belief in life after death which generally allows their hunters and scouts to be a little less fearful and their healers and spiritualists to be a lot more comforting. They also believe in rebirth - an old soul being born into a new body - and respect the young accordingly. They do not think that all about the reincarnated will be the same as the old but some things such as intuition or ability may be handed down.

The pack alpha is generally the head of only the wolves concerned with hunting and scouting, the other 'alpha' or head (in this case Kalain) takes charge of the two more empathetic groups. Young wolves may choose which group they wish to join when they are teens or even pups and will train under a slightly more experienced wolf until they come of age. Once grown they will be ranked according to their groups method of differentiating seniority - for the hunters they'd be ranked by skill and daring - perhaps even surpassing those who have been in the group longer.

Each group (as explained below) is headed by a 'beta' who is in overall direct command of making sure things run smoothly in their own group. They are in charge of most discipline and day to day runnings whilst the alpha above them concentrates on bigger cycles, events and interaction between groups as well as supervising new recruits.

They do not, ever, force their teachings on others. They will take some wolves on, help them and succour them but a wolf will not become a member of the pack unless the do understand and abide by the customs. They will generally not say anything about these customs unless asked, though, so they don't make very good missionaries X3 They are happy to live with the fact that others do not believe in what they do an accordingly allow others to believe as they will.

I don't like to make stories and have a total idea of where things are going - I prefer to have a background and just see how things happen. That means more plots can be thrown in the mix and more stuff can happen out of the blue. I tend to find it leads to more fun RP too.

I *do* intend to hopefully organise some events - within and outwith sections. I'd love to find two people (we already have two section heads) who'd be interested in their wolf being a 'beta' of a subgroup and who'd want to help organising such events. Beta owners must be reasonably active! These positions may be switched about if people become totally inactive ^^; See below for open positions!

Current Members
(In their current, normal SW ranks)
Alpha: Mu'sha
Betas:Jove, Kaila
Gammas:Saturne
Lones: Elysion
Shamans: Kalain

Ranks:
There will be a number of ranks which do not conform totally strictly to the normal SW ones as a number of packs have been doing for a long time :3 Roughly, there will be two 'sections' each with two subsections and pretty standard rank structure within them.

Section A

Hunters: (Leader: None yet!)
The main body of the pack and it's solid core. Hunters are expected to bring home the bacon and not only to do it out of duty but to love it as a sport besides. Hunters are never forced but generally respected for their prowess. Within the ranks there is fierce competition to take certain roles within the group - lead wolf in the hunt for instance or the one who gets to make the fatal bite. The ones chosen for these roles are generally the leader of the hunting team - the 'beta' of the group. Once or twice a year they may hold spiritual hunts to honour those animals they have brought down. Some of these may allow non-hunter types to join in and feel the thrill of running with the hunt. To get far in this group involves strength, courage and a true love of the hunt.

Scouts: (Leader: Jove)
These wolves are concerned with the welfare of the group and its defences. When not on border patrol they take care of reporting back dangerous obstacles which might arise on prime hunting territory and lower ranks might even have to do menial tasks like clearing and ensuring the safety of common routes. In winter they would be on the lookout for bad weather and become a resue patrol for any wolves caught in adverse weather. This can become particularly important on the mountainous slopes of their land as blizzards can set in fast. The most dedicated will rise further in this pacvk - a certain selflessness without stupidity also ranks highly.

Section B

Helpers:(Leader: None yet!)
Helpers are as their name states. They are the nannies, the carers, the wolves who give selflessly in an effort to help their pack. Maybe not suited to the exertions of the hunt - or not so inclined - they will do those jobs which require to be done within and around the pack's main dens. They are usually good listeners and willing to sort out small disputes of a personal nature as well as give advice in all manner of things which happen in the normal course of a life. Generally the more experienced they are and more trusted, the further a wolf will rise in this section.

Spiritualists: (Leader: Kaila)
These wolves are select and few. Chosen usually, rather than choosing for themselves, as acolytes they directly carry out those things thought to be important to the survival of the pack - worship and sacrifice. They bless the hunts, help with the birth and naming of young and preside over all manner of ceremonies and festivals. They are generally chosen for devotion and belief and those who are found to be lazy will not be tolerated. To get far in this group requires a natural talent or ability. Hard effort will go so far but unless they are content to stay lower ranked wolves without natural ability may find themselves stymied by this section.

There are, currently, no limit of openings for those lower ranked than section leaders. I'll get a more detailed list of those ranks up at some point >>

I totally need to decide on a name for the sections - inspiration gave out on me D: Suggestions are welcome.

Territory:

The Aves Pack will live where the eagles do - in the sky. Or, well, as close as they can get. The pack will be formed in an area comfortably homely to the founing core - in mountainous terrain where snow sometimes falls at the tallest reaches right into the summer. They will find a lush plateau almost split into two parts by steep sided walls of stone - the smaller section, almost totally protected from the outside, the worst of the wind and any casual travellers will be where the pack generally stays. The bigger area is large enough to provide the needs food wise for a reasonably sized wolf pack and as the packs grows they can move further down the mountainside onto the lusher plains below for sustenance.

There is a river which folows down into the lagrer plain, and one which dissappears into the mountainside and reappears in the smaller one as a large pond or small lake. The larger part of the plateu also has thick conifer forests which provide cover all year round and sometimes harsh winters may necessitate the moving of the dens to this sheltered spot if the pass between the two areas looks like it might close over with snow.

Fish, mountain goats and deer, smaller animals in abundance. The mountainside may seem frugal at first but is actually bursting with oppertunities for a relatively well organised pack.

Oooo . . . I think I just found Mebani a pack 8O . . . .

He would fit in well with the whole bird thing, because he has a crow that travels with him and that helps him get around, seeing as he's blind. XD So he totally digs birds. o_o

An awesome pack idea *3*

Ooo there's a possibility that I might be interested in offering Tainn as a helper. She's currently in a pack but it seems to have died and she's seeking a place where she can be of use. Being a helper fits in perfectly with her personality.

Ooo cool! And here I was thinking we might be short on helper-types ^___^ If you guys are up for joining in then feel free to throw in any ideas of your own. I'm going to be away for possibly up to a week after Saturday (moving house and we have no internet there) but I'll try to sort more details out by then >_>

Sure thing Aly ^_^ Hope moving isn't too stressful! *huggles* I'll try to put some ideas out there once I brainstorm them x3

I can offer Bluebird for the pack.

She was raised until late puppyhood to think she was a bird-as-a-wolf because her father was a wee bit nuts. Since traveling as an adolescent until she became an adult, Bluebird now just sees it as a spiritual totem connection to birds. She loves them and still dreams of flying.

While she is a dreamer and very spiritual, I'm not sure she'd make a good spiritualist. Maybe a helper? Blue follows her instincts and intuition, but is a bit brightly coloured for hunting in snow, and she is pretty kind. Not sure which group she'd fit in though...~

Love the pack idea ^^

surprised sounds great! *Working on getting the basic pack formed so we can get going on sorting things out* Once I've done that I'll invite anyone who wants to join to RP with one of the leaders, Mu'sha or Kalain.

^_^ Sounds like we're going to have quite a few helpers!

Haha totally forgot to put in the sub-ranks I'd meant to do ._.; Basically each wolf will start off as a low rank in each of their respective groups except those who are going straight into the beta positions (we'll work on pottyness for that 8D)

There is no need to move up the ranks if you don't think your wolf'd have the personality to do so but those wolves who do wish to progress will need to show real talent and / or initiative. :3 I'll probably se up some sort of basic rules for this but I don't want it to be too strict : for instance some might be promoted quickly if they prove aptitude.

There will be some sort of initiation ritual based on the group to be joined but those also still have to be confirmed - I'd love to have those with betas to think up some ideas for their own section (though it'll be played like those traditions were handed down from ye olde pack XD). Because of this I'll also be making the rule that the heads of each section must be owned by different people. They can resign and change position etc. etc. at any time but I'd prefer the heads to stay owned by seperate owners ^^;

Sill waiting on the subforum, but as soon as that happens I'll pm people for RPs if they still want 'em. :3
