I recently switched from PS2 to playing the game on PC, which I happen to like better than the whole PS2 experience, and I was wondering:
If I use windower, is there anyway I can be banned?
Have you heard about people being banned because of windower or do you know anyone who was banned because of it?
Can GMs tell if I'm using windower or not?
I'm really unsure and don't want to get banned or something for just using windower.

I have a few questions about it.
Do you recommend using it?
Has any of you used it?
I was considering using it, but like the OP I don't want to get banned because of it. But it's so annoying having to log out just to look things up and I wouldn't mind being able to use msn messenger and FF XI at the same time.

Windower is basically the "misdemeanor" of FFXI violations.
Really, I haven't seen or heard anyone get banned for using it, merly just "slapped on the wrist". Bout the worst I've heard was someone got their account suspended for a couple days cause they got warned about it several times.
Even so, don't talk about it anywhere but tells. Tells are the only things that SE does not keep a record of from what I understand.
Then again, I've talked about it so much in p and l and stuff and I've never even gotten a warning.

There's quite a few, but you have to be careful cause a lot are easily hacked into.
The most used and probably the safest (Me and several pals have had no problems with it in like, the year we've used it) is www.windower.net

Can you say 20 peice equip swap in 1 macro? I sure can. heart heart heart

It work's great...well for what it's suppose to do razz
I get some lag when running it... oh well. The thing that bugs me the most is it messes with my settings so when i go to play without windower i have to turn off "enable hardware cursor". I was wondering how you enable true fullscreen? I set the option to 1, then to true.
On 1 it would crash
On true (didn't think it'd work) it does nothing
Overall I'm happy with it though mrgreen

I just got the Windower too, the same one. I had used it at the start but stopped cause I worried....
Well, I couldn't get anything done ingame though because the majority of my friends don't have the game and we can only use IMs (that would sometimes even throw me out of the natural fullscreen) so I hope with the Windower it'll be better xD
Only think I noticed is that things feel darker with it and I can't move my mouse out of if while on the Conquest Map, but thats minor issues. Overall, happy again :3
It lags a little for me too btw,... prolly cause of running MSN and Firefox and stuff...

'cause the problem i have is playing the regular client and clicking on my second monitor by accident, which causes FF XI to lose focus and close.
