That's the first day since I bought the game in January that I haven't played... and it's not like I didn't want to play either, but I'm busy doing something in Pokèmon and can't turn off the DS or it won't work. D:

So I thought when I get back to play I'll just set the DS's date to yesterday and the game will think I'm still playing daily.. I don't want to lose flowers/neighbours. DDD:

So, tell me, it DOES work, right? It's not like the game has an internal clock which will give away my sins, right?

EDIT: So here I am, haven't played for 4 days and my chain in Pokèmon broke half an hour ago, no shiny. sad
I turn on my Animal Crossing game, hoping my neighbours are all there and to see the devastation amongst my flowers and.., to my surprise, NONE OF THE FLOWERS DIED. eek
Instead they all wilted and, well.., are still there. It's also raining, so I don't even need to water them. biggrin

This is pretty awesome, it looks as if the game waited for me to come back and play again. smile
The neighbours are all fine, too. I think they only try to move when you play.

Well, this game is eerie like that...
It just knows things...
Like when you want to catch a certain creature, it makes them rarer.
Or when you're looking to complete a Series or looking for an item, it becomes less frequent.
I guess if you need a more solid proof...
Turnips rot when you set the time backwards by even a minute.
And most everything else... flowers and the like will still act as though they were in the "next" day. As in, if any were wilted "today" and you went back to "yesterday," they'd still be wilted.
Also, animals still register back-travelling as time passing. If you travel forward a month, they'll be like.. "Where have you been for thirty days?!" That's the same if you were to travel backwards thirty days as well.
...So, I guess to answer your question; It doesn't work. D:

Well, it was only one day.
I hadn't played for a little over a month once.
All my flowers died and there were only a handful (96) of weeds.
No villagers moved (luckily).
I missed the Flower Fest.
[Insert extra complaints here.]
I'd say... just shrug it off.
It was only one day.
Nothing to get too worked up over.

What I'm really worrying about is neighbours, but my boyfriend said they only move away when you actually play, since he has stopped playing regularly and they only try to move out when he turns the game on.
It happened to you too, so.. I'm relieved. sweatdrop

The flowers will grow back eventualy. xd

Yeah, with not playing and flowers, it seems to work about the same as villagers.
They all wilt as time passes, and remain wilted until you start it up again, but once you start the game up, they'll die the following day if not watered.

I think you still have to water the wilted flowers when it rains to keep them from dying.

Actually, if it rains, you don't need to water anything.

Though it has to rain for more than an hour.
That or if it wasn't raining when the game was started up.
