She'd gone ahead once again to see what they could find for food. Splitting up prooved the quickest way to find a meal, given that they were currently wandering, two rogues banded together to try to find one another's sisters. Days prior, however, he'd found his, leaving Meilin to search on alone. She didn't fault him... but couldn't deny that the sting of his leaving was... more than she'd been prepared to handle. Had she fallen for him...? One night in a cave together wasn't time enough for that, no, but perhaps in all their traveling time she'd come to care about him more than that of a dear friend.
The pale lioness paced lightly as she watched the sands shift, not sure if she wanted to venture out into the desert sands and risk getting lost. That wouldn't be wise or effective in the least...
~No... I think I'll head back...~ She thought to herself, turning to glance back now on cue. It had been some time since the two met in that rainstorm, and it was strange, but she really couldn't imagine traveling without him anymore, yet that was the present she now faced.
Alone...

Aggrivation and the news that rogues had been roaming near the boundaries of the Firkein lands, Kimeti had finally taken it upon himself to patrol the perimeters. It hadn't become a daily thing, no, far from. It was sporadic days that the King would venture out upon the hot sands and under the scorching sun to look for intruders. It had been a rather long time since he'd taken up such a duty. The day his son betrayed him had been the day that the King had holed himself away within his den seething with anger and hurting from the pain that the traitor had brought upon him. Kimeti had finally decided to put that anger to use and deal with any rogues himself and today would turn out to be a fruitful day for the large lion.
For any dark based lion hiding would be much easier under the intensity of the sun seeing as they would beam like a beacon unlike the light hued lioness that seemed to teeter on the edge of the desert. Dissapearing behind a dune, Kimeti kept close watch on the female and noticed her reluctance to enter the sands. Though this pale hued femme appeared none-too-interested in trespassing, Kimeti was not in a kind mood and in his opinion she was far too close for his liking.
Baring his canines the King silently stalked behind the Female as she turned away to return to the unclaimed lands. Using the sand to his advantage, the sounds of his movement was masked to a near inaudible sound. Not until he was close enough to her that he was assured she'd have a hard time getting away Kimeti let a growl escape him as he broke out in a run to cut the femme off from her escape route.

Meilin paused... something didn't feel quite right, but she wasn't sure what. She felt the fur on the back of her neck p***k a bit, and as she tried to place the strange sensation, a growl broke her concentration. Her answer was barreling towards her with alarming speed.
Most rogues only ever heard rumors of the Firekin, if they were fortunate. Meilin, being born to the Mistweaver forests, however, knew how real the pride truely was. Lions with pelts of blood colored hues, wandering the sands like murderous giants, killing and enslaving any that got too close to their borders. She'd heard their numbers had declined though, as no one had seen or heard from the Moutojamii in months. Her shock was not so apparent as her sudden hightened sense of alert. Bristling from tail to ear tips, she braced for what looked like it might be a full body tackle. Meilin was more than a bit reckless at times, but in this case she didn't see much other option. There was clearly no way she'd outrun him from this distance, but maybe she could dodge if need be.
Her pulse pounded in her ears as the male, clad in gold and diamonds, and terrifyingly massive in size, plowed close enough to attack. Only then did she move to put some space between them, though keeping her eyes glued with a distrusting glare and an aggravated hiss.

Kimeti didn't outright attack the female. No, his first move was to block her from running into the rogue lands and dissapearing amongst the tall grass. His goal was to make her only escape route the desert as he knew any who were not accustom the the intensity that the desert brought would not last long should they manage to outrun their pursuer and the lionesses reaction to his barreling run only heightened the Kings senses and desires.
With golden eyes glimmering dangerously, Kimeti's bulky frame skidded to a sandy halt as the female dodged away from him. With head low and ears back Kimeti glared at the lioness, studying her carefully and the first thing that the lion noticed was her petite form compared to his own. This alone gave him a huge upper hand in what was to unravel despite this pale-hued lionesses rather fiesty and bold attitude. Apparently, due to her reaction, she could not have known of the verocity of the Firekin or she was completely uncaring. The later would bring the lioness some major problems when dealing with the rather angry King.
Unlike the Firekin, Mistweavers did'nt have any distinguishing features. Usually they smelt strongly of water due to their territory but no such scent lingered on this lioness. To Kimeti, she was merely just another rogue who had, unfortunately for her, managed to catch the King's attention. "You're trespassing." The words came out cold and ruthless as the King flexed his claws just waiting to sink them into that pale hide.

"Seeing that you were in such a clear hurry to keep me from going back the way I came, I find that a little hard to believe." She growled, her own ears pinning back as she kept muscles tense and taunt in preperation for the fight that seemed inevitable. Her gray eyes were livid, but keen with wit. She wasn't foolish enough to attack head on, but maybe if she could stall, if Vian was drawn by the commotion, maybe together the two could fight this male off. "I wasn't aware that the Firekin drew the borders of their precious lands so close to rogue territory... but please, do pardon me for not complying, but I've no interest in getting stuck here with you." A general statement, not aware that he intended to make that literal. She was only thinking about the present.
As the female spoke she did snarl a little, backing away, making sure to stay out of his immediate reach. It would likely take only one or two direct hits from those massive paws to have her down and out for the count, and that wasn't something Meilin was willing to risk. She had a sister to find.
Taking her chance while she had it, Meilin pivoted, making use of her distance to get going in the opposite direction. She wasn't aware of what the king was, though she did make that guess that it would take longer to escape going this way than to make a break for the direction she'd come from, but no one was going to accuse her of giving up without a fight. No.
Into the desert she ran, headlong into the inevitable.
